SOURCE: Bad Video Board

In my opinion, if you replace the board you still have a leakage issue. These sets run around $300-$400 in my area. It may make more sense to spend the money on another used TV, or save up and purchase a new TV.

Your symptom sounds like a damaged convergence IC.

There are two and large IC’s that control the convergence in a big screen set. Some of the newer sets (I think that this appies to yours)only have one. They are secured to a very large aluminum heat sink. They will have a part number stamped on them that will start with an STKXXX-XXX, like STK392-110, and they are located on the signal board (on the left as you look into the back of the set).

Along with the convergence IC’s there will also be some associated components that will need to be replaced as well. There are some resistors that are part of the convergence circuit that will be open and need to be replaced. Most likely these will appear charred in the center. If you have an Ohm Meter or a DVM, check all the resistors that are close to the IC’s and you should be looking for either ones that have opened or have changed values.
There are also two resistors on the front of the board located in the middle that are fusible link resistors, these should be checked for opens and replaced if they are found so.

If one of the convergence IC’s are found to be bad, I would replace them both, if one has gone bad the other may go soon. I usually order my parts from Andrews Electronics in California, they will have the OEM components that you will need.
Their site is http://www.andrewselectronics.com/welcome.aspx
And their phone number is a 24-Hour Order Desk: (800) 274-4666
I recommend the phone order so you can talk to the person about the different types of IC’s that are available.

I would also advise that the convergence IC’s be OEM or better, just because they are cheap does not mean that they are a good deal. I have seen the cheap IC’s fail after a short time, even though they look exactly like the OEM IC’s. I think that the bottom line is that you will get what you pay for when it comes to the parts.

You can also try http://www.tvrepairkits.com/ , I have not tried them yet, but they do carry OEM or better parts.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue.
If you need further assistance please comment to this post and I will try to help you further.

Tv is dim and can't brighten

Back - light problem. Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.
http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.

Barry,
if you include the make & model we may be able to help locate a board. Even better if you include board ID info including revision number. Suggestions include eBay or any of the reliable net based component vendors.

My mitsubishi medallion hd 1080 doesn't show content from component cable

Some of the older Mitsubishi with HD 1080 have only one component input for HD---it is marked on rear as DTV----also a model number may allow me to give another suggestion--Some of these sets (ws, wt, vs models) will on occasion lock out or disable the input/s.

Depending on model number most also have 3 hidden menus---one is the option menu----it allows with the Mitsubishi remote via a 4 digit number (by model number) to enter there and do a hard reset of the set----sets every setting back to factory original---seen it "cure" all kinds of odd problems from missing rear inputs, no sound, odd video issues---you name it.

Get me the model number and I will see if can find the code for yours--you can also try hooking first direct a 1080 blue ray or Dvd if you want to see if the input is active or not first.

Mitsubishi WS55315 rear-projection has gone dark

Yes, they have other than convergence circuit problems----very few issues or troubles.

You should test the shops by asking if they have the 4 digit code number for this model for the OPTION MENU---set has 3 hidden menus and OPTION menu will allow a hard reset of entire set---the other two menus are adjustment and convergence menus.

If some shop has no idea what the option menu is----pass them.

RF connector broke from board....looks like part number is 1519592K, but nothing appears when I enter that part number..how do I get new board?

Hi,

You can't buy the RF connector parts from a TV component supplier as they are already soldered to the main board. A friend who can solder PCBs or a TV repair shop should be able to re-solder the original for you. If it's damaged, a TV repair shop might also be able to find another that will fit as they are fairly standard components. This will be far cheaper than buying a new main board and it's probably going to be difficult to get one.

I had a look for a new main board, but the TV is fairly old and I couldn't find one or a part number. It's easier to find components by part number rather than by TV model, so your best bet is to find the part number on the main board and try searching for that on Google or similar.

If you want to post back with the model number, I don't mind having a search for a replacement main board, but my advice would be to get the existing repaired, if possible.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
BElectric

Boe in blue dynamic convergence curcuitry. Swapped deflection yoke on two tubes but problem still remains. Unplugged convergence plug on yoke and bow disappeared but unable to adjust dynamic convergence....

what's the number of the board where you unplugged the conv yoke, should start with 930_ that is the board you need. Try the partstore.com with the part number or type in the brand and model when you have the number on the board, and they display price and availability.

How do i change from 480i to 1080i on my mitsubishi ws55315

You can't. Depending on what the output device is sending and what input you are using ion the back, it chooses for you.

ie - if you have a DVD player sending out 480 the TV will only allow different versions of 480.
