Question about Insignia Computers & Internet

Open Question

Insignia NS-55D420NA16, sound but no picture, suspect bad inverters. For this model is there a separate board, or are they part of the power supply? Thanks.

Isolated to inverters by shining light into display, can see movement.

SOURCE: Black Screen on Insignia NS-LCD27.

hi sir here is my solution for you now turn on the unit then check the out put voltage of the power supply if all present the 5v stand by, 5v switch, 12v and 24v. and then check the inverter ON voltage around 3.3v going to inverter board as will as the 24v supply, make sure those voltages are present. check also for bad component at T-con board which drive signal going to panel display the 5v to 12v switch by a transistor at logic board must be present. now if those are present and working fine you have a bad main board which drive all the signal as will as the audio. hope this may help feel free to ask further question. thanks for consulting through fixya good bless.

SOURCE: i have an insignia ns-55d420na16 sound YES, picture NO. i have diagnosed: and have narrowed: to either the backlight inverter board or the led itself. is there a way of knowing which IS the issue?

Shine a flashlight on the screen while the TV is on. If you see movement then the Inverters are gone. If you don't get a dim picture then the T-con board is bad. You can get parts here: TV Parts Universal TV Stands DLP Chips ShopJimmy

I have an insignia model NS-55D420NA16. The video went out but the sound is good. The research is limited but what I did find is the backlight inverter is the problem, maybe. Help?

Back - light problem. Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.
To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board....

Insignia power supply board broke twice, why?

That is a good question - one that no one may necessarily be able to answer. Some models and brands are more prone to certain types of failures due to weak design. Others have no reserve capacity in the event of local power issues, as many rural localities and even some urban areas are prone to voltage surges and spikes. The best recommendation is that once you repair the set this time, get an UPS to protect it from power source fluctuations. If it fails again after that, it is a problem from within the set. Flat panel sets pull very little power, so you won't need a large capacity UPS. You can even protect your home theater and game console(s) with it for another level of protection.

My tv has sound but no picture, just started happening and its non stop model # NS-LCD37

This one in the pictures has sound and backlight but no pictures due to bad T-CON Bd.

You need to find out if it has backlight or not so we can figure out if it is power supply, T-CON bd, or backlight inverter board.
First, look at the screen in darkened room to see if you can see any slight glow from the screen, if it does, then the problem can be the T-CON (not getting the 12vdc) or the main logic board not feeding the signals to the T-CON board.
if not, next place to check will be the power supply module, make sure it has 24vdc which is required by the backlight inverter to work, the reason for not having 24vdc can be from bad DC filter caps (leaking/bulging top, high ESR) or short circuits in the inverter board which will cause the 24vdc supply to go into shutdown mode, so you may have to disconnect the power cable that feed the inverter board to see if the 24vdc will work without the inverter board hookup, you will need to apply about 3~4 amp of load to the 24vdc to make sure it can handle that. There are fuses on the backlight inverter boards also. So there is some troubleshooting you will have to do to find out the causes of the problem you are having.

Or, just make sure to use caps with low ESR, 105c, high ripple current and long life rating such as PANASONIC FM or FC series.

Tv picture will not come on

We need to find out if the power supply is putting out 24vdc for the backlight inverter board and 12~16vdc for sound, look for bad caps with leaking/bulging tops first. If you do have all the voltages then the backlight inverter board may be bad.

Insignia ns-pdp50 plasma. pop of death, audio but no video

I suspect that your supply has gone bad. You will need to find the service manual for voltage measurements. If you want to get replacement boards many can be found on ebay or you can check they stock boards for many units and I have had no problems.

NS-LCD42HD-09 Insignia. The power light is on, but no sound, no picture. TV is 13mths old. Best Buy junk I'm guessing, but as a electrical engineer, I'm determined to fix it myself. I think it's the power...

At least the 5VDC stand by power supply is working, there will be a control signal pin from the mainboard to the power supply board to turn on the rest of the power supplies (24vdc for the back light inverter boards, 12vdc for other circuits). Any bulging caps in the power supply?

Insignia NS-32LCD Backlight or Inverter bad???

If you've done the flash light test, it could be the inverter board became defective but it could also be that the power supply does not provide the +24VDC to the back light inverter board.
If you could do the +24VDC test using a voltmeter then we can say for sure that the back light inverter board is defective.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
