My foot pedal started smoking on my Singer 413 Sewing Machine

No solution I'm afraid - but it has just happened to me too on a 1975 singer 522 Machine. Like you just switched it off and am now sourcing a new pedal....did have a look inside the pedal but nothing obvious - smells horrible though and will not use until replaced.

Foot pedal dead, machine keeps sewing!

There is no suppressor in the foot control of a 425. Only the control unit, which may need to be replaced. If the machine accelerates to full speed, it may have a problem with the "stop right" board which tells the machine whether to stop with the needle up.
You could have several problems, so go see a qualified Husqvarna repairman. You may contact Husqvarna customer service to locate the best one in your area.

Husqvarna sewing machine

There is an electronic component called a supressor, used to filter interference by your machine to the power in your home which may cause radios & TVs etc to have sound crackle or lines on the image each time you press the is not essential to the safe function of the machine, tho' domestic harmony may be strained if others are watching TV at the same time you sew............but it doesn't always cause interference even without the suppressor

You may also have noticed a small amount of smoke and an acrid smell when this component failed.

Generally they are located in the foot control, although some machines bury them inside the main body somewhere near the power inlet.

Ensure machine is unplugged and have a look inside the foot pedal for a rectangular "electronic" looking component with two stout will probably be a brown yellow with oozing nasty thick brown gunge.....undo connectors and remove it ....wipe excess nasty stuff off and any associated residue with a fast drying solvent like denatured spirit or metholated spirit.

Now, with the offender removed, re-assemble foot control and you are back in business..............if the component is inside the machine, it will look the same, but the exact location may take some the base and look near the power inlet for something bearing the former description.
