I plug it into the outlet as usual and hit the power button. The power button turns on, but then it just keeps humming. Usually the heating light comes on and then it let's me know it's ready.

SOURCE: When you plug in the tredmill it usually beeps

There is a wire going from the right support post to a connector behind a small door underneath the console. Remove the door and make sure that the connector is properly plugged into the slot. It has probably worked loose due to vibration.

SOURCE: my fridgedaire window unit A/C and heat won't

Plug a light into the outlet used for the A/C, if the light does not come on when reset then the circuit breaker that provided the power to the outlet need to be reset or replaced.

Testimonial: "Thank you. I had pretty much come to that conclusion. I think It may be a faulty outlet or circuit breaker, like you said. Thanks for the advice!"

When I turn up level on subwoofer it makes loud humming noise. JBL

Try the following steps to stop subwoofer hum.
  1. If the subwoofer is plugged into its own outlet, plug the subwoofer's power cord into an outlet shared by the other components. Use an extension cord if necessary.
  2. If the hum persists, and your system includes a cable TV, disconnect the cable line. If the hum stops, install an isolation transformer on the cable.
  3. If the hum persists, disconnect the remaining component cables one at a time until the hum stops. Install a coaxial isolation transformer on that cable.
  4. If the hum persists, install a line-level ground loop isolator on the subwoofer's line-level feed cable. This usually solves most hum problems.
  5. If nothing helps, disconnect all the audio cables from the subwoofer. Leave the subwoofer plugged in and switched on. If the subwoofer hums, it points to a defective unit. Contact the company's customer service to technical support.

Why will it not come on?

The rust shouldn't make any difference.

When you plug it in, does the interior light turn on? If not, suspect the wall outlet - test it for power by plugging in something else. If the interior light turns on, listen very closely to the freezer. It should hum. If it doesn't, toy with the freezer control inside - it may just be turned off. Turn it to about midpoint and listen very closely to it again. If still no hum, wait a short while, then feel carefully on the outside of the cabinet - it may be running through a defrost cycle. The outside of the cabinet may get warm while that's happening, especially around the door gaskets. Wait a while (half an hour, an hour, for the defrost cycle to finish - the freezer should run then.

If it never hums, then the compressor isn't running, so adding freon won't make any difference. Instead, suspect the defrost timer - that's a little electronic circuit board inside.

If it HUMS but never gets COLD, then you potentially have a freon leakage problem. It's difficult at best, though, to refill a refrigerator or freezer - they don't usually have refill taps.

Oh, yes. If the internal light never comes on but you've proven that the wall outlet has power, it's entirely possible that the plug is bad and needs to be redone.

Will not charge

Well when the light is green that usually means it is fully charged. If the light is amber then it is charging. If you are having problems with short charged up time duration try this: Plug charger cord into Kindle then plug charger to outlet. Then press on/off button. A screen will pop up asking if you want to cancel or power down the unit. Do not choose either option, keep the button pushed down until every thing turns off. There will be no power light at all. Wait 2-3 hours unplug everything then power up the Kindle. This action will match the battery indicator icon to a truer image of the battery. I do this several times a week, usually overnight. Sorry if I over answered your question.

My black & decker tro964 is not heating

That may sound like a stupid question, but is it plugged in?
Have you tried to plug in the toaster on a different power outlet?
If there is a ground fault switch where the toaster is plugged in (that's those outlets which have 2 buttons on the front, one labeld "Test" the other usually labeled "Reset") unplug the toaster and push the "Reset" button and try the toaster again. To test, if the power outlet, were the toaster is usually plugged in, is working, try a hair dryer or any other device on that outlet.
Its most likely cheaper to replace the whole toaster than to replace the heating elements, for about 40 $ since that's the price of your toaster on some websites.

My electric piano has developed a mains hum. I haven't moved it or put anything near by. Thoughts on cause & remidy?

Hums are usually related to power, but not usually the actual power adapter. It's most commonly a "ground loop" issue, with the infamous 60Hz hum. The solution for this sometimes is to try plugging the keyboard (or amp) into a different power outlet, perhaps on a separate circuit.

Also try an audio cable of higher quality, which may have shielding or braiding in it to reduce external noise and cancel out internal noise. Also, shorter cables tend to produce less noise than longer ones

Insinkerator has power but does not grind garbage. have hit reset button and turned allen screw at bottom. now i dont get a hum from the motor.

Is it hardwired or does it plug into an outlet? If it plugs in, check the outlet for power. Is a circuit breaker tripped? How do you know it has power if it doesn't even hum?

Sony KDP-65S550 red light keeps blinking

The STANDBY light is flashing on the television and there is no picture or sound. Solution
sp.gif sp.gif The STANDBY light will flash if an issue is detected within the television. This can sometimes be resolved by simply following the steps below to reset the television.
  1. Turn off the television. IMPORTANT: For a projection television that uses an internal lamp, wait 5 minutes after turning off the television to allow the lamp to cool before continuing with the following steps.
  2. Unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet.
  3. Let the television remain without power for 60 seconds.
  4. Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet. NOTE: If the television is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the television.
  5. Turn on the television.
If the issue is still unresolved after following all of the troubleshooting steps, service may be required. Please note the number of times the STANDBY light flashes and relay that information to the service center.
