Question about Amana Refrigerators

1 Answer

Amana refrigerator. I pulled the 2 bottom baskets out and the supports for them to clean the back wall and everything. That seemed simple enough. Now I can't seem to get the supports to go back in?

Do you remember how you took them out?
It is not usually hard too snap them back together.
Just put the support beam back in and the top shelve.
Align your baskets in the grooves.

Freezer freezes but frig wont cool amana with freezer on the bottom

I couldn't find a repairman so I pulled the big thing away from the wall, took off the bottom front plate and the bottom rear plate and unplugged the big beast. Then using a refrigerator brush and a vacuum I carefully cleaned all the dustballs from the coils on the bottom. Then plugged it back in and in about 3 hours it was cooling normally again on a "4" setting.

Fridge not getting cold enough

The cold from the freezer is piped up to the refrigerator and if that tube gets clogged with frost or ice it will not be able to blow to the cold air into the refrigerator area. I took everything out, unpluged the unit for about 6 hours, till all the frost from the freezer was gone, wiped up all moisture and turn it back on. It worked!

Amana bottom freezer refrig runs at maximum coolness

Thanks for your inquiry. I think I may have fixed it. I unpluged it and took everything out of the refrigerator and freezer, cleaned it thoroughly inside and out and unscrewed the back wall inside the freezer. There was a huge ice buildup on the coils so I let it sit for 12 hours like a defrost. I turned it back on and it seems to be working fine. It is not running constantly and is maintaining about 5 degrees below. If this doesn't stay working, I guess I have to call a repairman.

Amana ARB2117BW - Bottom Freezer Door Won't Stay Sealed

This problem was posted in the wrong section. My model didn't have it's own, so its in ABB1927DE Bottom Freezer Refrigerator - perhaps you could create a section for it.

As it turns out, I looked more closely at the baskets inside. We had noticed that if the top basket was slid all the way forward when we closed the door that it would close better. So I looked to see if they or the slides were out of alignment. They seemed ok, but then I saw that the way the bottom basket was hanging didn't seem right - it was not quite nestled into it's retainer slot. I took the baskets out and turned the bottom one around. It fit perfectly into it's retainer slot. I then replaced the top one (it was already in correctly) and closed the door. It sealed correctly the first time. I tested it several times after that and it sealed tightly. Closing the top door did not make it unseal as it had done before.

Using rollers to pull fridge out for cleaning

Hi: Simple. Every Amana refrigerator I've seen in the last 15-20 years have brakes. In front of your wheels is a rubber disc that screws down to stop the fridge from rolling forward when you open it. You have to screw them back up a little to make it roll. If you look at your grill you will see that it is flat all the way across except for the ends they protrude forward at the ends. They usually cover the brakes. Work at the grill to find the clips that hold it in place. It will snap off. The reason for putting you through that; is the energy efficiecy, The seals work so well that you would pull the fridge forward when opening. That should work, Jeff
