Question about Dryers

1 Answer

I have Samsung Front loading washer and dryer and I am installing them onto pedestals. The washers legs were just bolts with feet on them and it was pretty easy installing it onto a pedestal. The dry on the other hand has these large diameter plastic feet on it. Once removed, they leave a rather sizable hole that is way bigger than the bolts that came with the installation kit. What do I do?

Need exact dimensions of duet washer & dryer bought in 2006. Also how to prepare for moving same appliances.

Basic measurements for washer and dryer with door closed and not on optional pedestal(s) are 31.5" deep (front to back), 27" wide, (left to right), and 38" high. For installation and usage consider the leveling feet, use of pedestal(s), water hookups, drain hose for washer, and vent (exhaust) hose for dryer. You may want to position the washer on your left, and the dryer on the right due to hinge location, and for ease of transferring laundry from one machine to the other. Depth of washer (front to back) with door open 90 degrees is 50.5" and the dryer is 51.5". At the factory, four (4) shipping bolts are attached to the back of the washer to secure the drum for shipping. These should be re-installed prior to the move, (if you still have them). Installing pedestal to washer

You want to level just the pedestal in the place where you will be using it so when you put it in position mounted together later it is done. Also very easy to do first. Get the pedestal level, tighten the lock nuts, put the washer on its back. Usually you remove the washer feet, take the pedestal drawer out, screw on each side, bolt the pedestal to the washer with the four screws provided. Tip pedestal and washer up, on to something that slides easily to protect floor. There usually are some type of shipping bolts that have to be removed from back of washer before using on new units. Usually four and these have to be removed.

How do I level my machine with an accessory drawer underneath?

Do not try to level the washer. Level the feet on the pedestal AFTER the washer is installed. Just make sure the legs of the washer are all set the same on the pedestal and tightened down. Then, adjust the pedestal feet so the washer is level front-to-back and side-to-side. Once you level the unit, place your hands at opposite diagnoal corners on the top of the washer (one hand on a rear corner, the other hand on the front corner). If the washer has a firm foundation and you have the leveled the feet correctly, it should not move when you apply any pressure at these opposite corners. If you have questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

How do we install the pedestal to the front load Kenmore washer

The pedestals bolt into the bottom of the washer where the legs where.

This is definatly a heavy job, so it's best to get 2 more people to help you out.

#1 Remove all 4 legs that came on the washer factory.

#2 Make sure you have enough room to manouver the machines. The washer is going to be the most difficult so start with it.

#3 Have your friends tilt the machine back and you slide the pedestal under the machine.

#4 Kneel down infront of the machine to prevent it from sliding forward.

#5 Have your friends lift up the back of the machine and walk it forward until the holes in the top of the pedestal are in line wiht the holes from where the legs where.

#6 Thread in the bolts and tighten.

**You will need to take out the drawer of the pedestal to get the back bolts in. There are plastic clips on the inside of the runners, just push those down at hte same time and pull the drawer**

Good luck! Please let me know if this was helpful!

Does it have runner pads on the leveling feet on the washer resting on the pedestal?
If so, and it still moves all over, you will have to fasten the washer to the pedestal with bolts and nuts. I had a GE that did the same thing. I finally laid them on their side, drilled out the holes to fit bolts and washers I bought from Home Depot. They really don't make that clear, do they?

Remove pedestal drawer from washer

First remove the top of the washer via 3 tork, 7mm hex head screws (they are hidden located on rear of washer) then you can see to line up the tub with the shipping bolts. Just put 2 in --one lower and upper opposing each other and that will be sufficient. I believe there is two screws holding the drawer in located at the track towards the front of the drawer. Now you can lean it over with no worries to remove pedestal
