SOURCE: no start

if it runs on starting fluid its a fuel problem.. check fuel pressure even if its a couple of pounds off, the vehicle will not run. but using starting fluid may give you the extra poundage you need to make it run . also check vacuum hose at pressure regulator on fuel rail

Was any work just done to this car? Timing belt? It is rare that these pumps go bad but I have seen a few shell out. If you are not familiar with the ALH diesel engine I would not try to replace it. You should take it to a shop that specializes in VW's.

SOURCE: air in fuel line between fuel filter and injection

Hi, before the pump it is a loose connection or maybe a pin hole in the pipe, check all the connections and pipes for seepage, after the pump it will be a leak, i knowit sounds the same but after the pump the fuel is under pressure. It would appear that your system drawing air rather than forcing air in. daveg

How do you bleed a diesel pump jeep Cherokee turbo diesel 3.1 5 cylinder 2001

we dont have this engine here, USA.
but i have the WG jeep book,
starting page 12 , chapter 14

FUEL INJECTION PUMP BLEEDING
(1) If the fuel injection pump has been replaced,
air should be bled at the overflow valve before
attempting to start engine.
(a) Loosen the overflow valve (Fig. 18) at the
rear of the injection pump.
(b) Place a towel below the valve.
WARNING: WHEN CRANKING THE ENGINE TO
BLEED AIR FROM THE INJECTION PUMP, THE
ENGINE MAY START. PLACE THE TRANSMISSION
IN NEUTRAL OR PARK AND SET PARKING BRAKE
BEFORE ENGAGING THE STARTER MOTOR.
CAUTION: Do not engage the starter motor for
more than 30 seconds at a time. Allow 2 minutes
between cranking intervals.
(2) Crank the engine for 30 seconds at a time to
allow air trapped in the injection pump to vent out
the fuel injector drain tubes. Continue this procedure
until the engine starts. Observe the previous WARNING
and CAUTION.
(3) Tighten overflow valve.
HIGH-PRESSURE FUEL LINE BLEEDING
WARNING: THE INJECTION PUMP SUPPLIES HIGH-
-PRESSURE FUEL OF APPROXIMATELY 45,000 KPA
(6,526 PSI) TO EACH INDIVIDUAL INJECTOR
THROUGH THE HIGH-PRESSURE LINES. FUEL
UNDER THIS AMOUNT OF PRESSURE CAN PENETRATE
THE SKIN AND CAUSE PERSONAL INJURY.
WEAR SAFETY GOGGLES AND ADEQUATE PROTECTIVE
CLOTHING AND AVOID CONTACT WITH
FUEL SPRAY WHEN BLEEDING HIGH-PRESSURE
FUEL LINES.
WARNING: DO NOT BLEED AIR FROM THE FUEL
SYSTEM OF A HOT ENGINE. DO NOT ALLOW FUEL
TO SPRAY ONTO THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD WHEN
BLEEDING AIR FROM THE FUEL SYSTEM.
Bleed air from one injector at time.
(1) Loosen the high-pressure fuel line fitting at
the injector (Fig. 19).
(2) Crank the engine until all air has been bled
from the line. Do not operate the starter motor
for longer than 30 seconds. Wait 2 minutes
between cranking intervals.
(3) Start the engine and bleed one injector at a
time until the engine runs smoothly.

Why doesn't tractor start after injector pump rebuild?

I'd be suspicious that the injector timing is not correct.
When the injector pump was rebuilt, it had to have been removed from the engine.
There will be timing marks on the gears and they have to be lined up for the fuel to be injected at the correct time.

Did you bleed injectors? Pump primer pump up till you pressure, wait pumping crack a injector nut till you solid fuel. Than close. Go to next one, do the same thing.

Hello, I'm not very familiar w/ your model but it could be a
timing problem, the fuel is not being injected at the right time
to fire. On a older J.D.such as the 820 ect. would not inject at the right time, there is a place on the injector pump that corrects it, however, I would call a ford tractor dealer, or go online to www.tractornet.com
and list your problem. There are many people on this site that can and will help you. Good luck.

100 psi per cylinder is way too low--should be in the vicinity of 150-165 per cylinder
back firing indicates wrong firing order and as you have replaced the plugs etc check that you have the leads on the correct plugs in the correct order
the timing for the engine should be around the 10 degree btdc and not tdc

Can a fuel pump relay cause poor gas delivery

NO, the relay will either work or it won't. (Unplug it and look at it; if the terminals look corroded... replace it.) Most cars have fuel injection systems these days. In addition to the fuel pump that pumps fuel out of the gas tank... there is an injection system pump which is quite expensive. In order of operation: 1) have your injectors cleaned or replaced as needed (new ones run about $30 each), 2) have the injection system pump pressure checked and get a rebuilt pump if needed (brand new one ~$850), and 3) check the fuel pump. If the car has more than 80K miles on it, then suspect clogged or partially obstructed injectors. A BOSCH SERVICE CENTER has a machine to test and clean most makes of injectors. At the same time, replace your fuel filter and use good gas when you fill up. NEVER fill up from a station that just had a fuel truck delivery (if you see the tank truck) as the garbage on the bottom of the tank takes a day or so to settle back down again. Magneti Marelli Check Star also offers good injection system servicing. The dealership should be your last resort as they just replace parts until the problem goes away... leaving you with a hefty bill and a bag of old parts

Did you loosen an injector line to see if you are getting fuel to the cylinder? Did you bleed the filter when you changed it? Was the rebuilt pump properly timed when it was installed? Are you sure all the air was bled out of the system after the pump and filter were changed? Do you have air bubbles in the fuel return line?
A copy of Haynes Diesel Engine Repair Manual, part #10330 ($20) could prove to be invaluable to help you track this down. It has excellent coverage of GM 6.2 and 6.5 engines. Hope this helps.

Getting fuel to throttle body, but, car will not start. Fuel injected system. Injecters are not firing. Starts when gas is poured in throttle body then dies. What's my problem?

Sometimes there is a fuse just for the injectors if none of the injectors are firing id check the fuse.
But first check to see if the fuel injectors click because if they do click it could be the fuel pump.
Are you able to figure out what the fuel pressre is at when you prime the system? You can do this by checking the schrader valve on the fuel rail by plugging in a gauge and see if it has pressure when you turn the key.
if the injectors dont click and you have fuel pressure check the fuse for the fuel injector system (depending on model fuel injector system.) Cause you need to first make sure the fuel injectors arent firing cause it may be a pressure regulator problem or a fuel pump.
if you need further assistance or have a question about anything ive said please follow up with a comment and i will be glad to assist you further from there. Thanks and good luck.

05 f350 will crank but wont start changed fuel filters bled fuel made sure im getting fuel on top of motor

Have you checked the HPOP? You need to hook a guage and check your high pressure pump to see if it is putting out pressure. These units are prone to failure becaue they have such close tolerances inside of the pumps. Diangosis of these tuck is not for the back yard guy so be careful if you do not know these units or what they do. This system puts out i believe 1200 psi. The system is called a heui. Hydraulic Electronic Unit Injection. It is the high pressure used to fire the injector. You may be getting fuel but if you have no "plunger" so to speak to fire the injector you will get nothing. Also check Your IPR for a broken wire or a short.
