I have a kenmore elite bottom freezer refrigerator (trio). When the freezer door is closed a rapid clicking/grinding noise has started. When I open the door, it stops. When I close the light switch at the...

I've heard similar refrigerator noises like yours before. Sounds like the evaporator fan motor, located in the freezer and runs only when the door is closed, is being obstructed, possibly by ice, possibly by some wiring or even a food item. You could have a defrost problem, but you dont mention any refrigerator or freezer temperature problem, so that is likely not it. It is also possible the evaporator fan motor itself is out of balance. If you remove the back wall of the freezer, you will be able to see if there is something obstructing the fan blade, if the motor or shaft is out of balance, when you close the door light switch, check the balance of the shaft, it should not have any wobble at all, in fact, if the fan blade is not attached, you should not be able to tell by looking at the motor shaft if the motor is running or not. Also, just happened to think, if one of the fan blades is even partially broken off, that will cause the motor to be out of balance. But if one of these blades is broken, it was broken by something else, either ice or something, and you may have to find the cause of that, otherwise it may happen again.

It is making a buzzing noise on freezer side that stops when u open the door but starts again when u close it

On some models of refrigerators, the evaporator fan (behind an access panel at the top of the freezer) shuts off when the door is opened. This fan may be making the buzzing sound.

You should be able to check by pushing in the door switch while holding the door open. The fan should come on; and, if the buzzing resumes, you know what is making the noise. The fan may be developing a problem. If it stops running, the cold air will not be distributed properly between the freezer and refrigerator.

Refrigerator motor is very loud with doors closed. when you open a door the noise stops.

The defrost fan is hitting on frost buildup or has fallen out of lace It is designed to stop running when doors are opened so as to not circulate warm air in the cavitys.

Ice Maker Making Noise

The motor for the auger drive runs pretty slow (about 18 rpm), it could be the drive is running continuously (unless the door is open). Check that and let me know some more info, is the noise real loud, soft, etc. Can you feel anything vibrating or running when the door switch is pressed in?
