Replacement Range element not heating

Replaced a burned out range burner, now that element does not heat. Appears to have power to the connector. Inserted a different new burner, same problem. Red light on upper panel is on even though the burners are off. Is that a problem indicator? For what?

Red light means power is on in the wires. maybe the plug is very dirty, wire disconnected. if you mesured power at the connector, there is no reason a good burner would not work unless that when plugged in its not getting a good contact

If this is an older unit, the quick connectors and the element contacts are prone the burning and loosing contact. I am talking about where the actual burner snaps into the connector. On the one I used tro have, the indicator light would illuminate, but the burner would stay cold. The elements and the connectors can be replaced, but make sure the power is disconnected before servicing it. For a wiring diagram, I would contact (sears.com)

Kenmore electric range oven baking element does not go on eveything else works

The bake element
is the heating element that is found at the bottom of the oven. Most electric ovens use both the bake element and the broil element in a bake cycle, with the bake element performing 90% of the heating. If the bake element isn't working, the oven may not heat. To help determine if the bake element is defective you should first do a visual check. If the element is blistered or separated then it should be replaced. If the element appears to look normal, then turn the oven on to a bake function for a minute and then turn it off.

Check the element for signs of heating and if it is still cold then it may be defective. Disconnect the power and then remove the back panel. First check the wires as they may have become loose or corroded. If the element appears to be fine visually, test it for continuity with a multi-meter. If the element is burned or no longer has continuity, it will need to be replaced.

The 4 range top plug in receivers for the heating elements keep burning out. I have replaced them several times. What can I do to have them last longer that 5 months.

Hello,

Since the burner blocks keep burning out that to me would mean that the burners theirself are worn to and dont fit too well into the burner blocks and they too (the burners) should be replaced. The coil surface burners are pretty much universal and the part numbers for the least expensive exact replacement parts are

6 inch burner SP12YA

8 inch burner SP21YA

Hello,

If one of your burner heating elements works only intermittently, it's probably because of worn or bad contacts in the receptacle that the element plugs into. On most electric ranges, you can remove the element by lifting it up several inches and firmly pulling it away from its attachment (receptacle). Read your owner's manual to learn the correct technique for your range. If, after removing the element, you see that the ends of the element that were plugged in are pitted, corroded, burned, scarred, or rusted, replace both the element and the receptacle.

Take care.

Burner Heating element doesn't heat

Check power to element with a voltmeter. If there is power, the element is bad. If not power, than switch or relay is likely faulty. You can also test them with an ohmmeter

Heating element in the oven appears to burn out, can it be repla

yes but be sure to turn the breaker off or unplug the stove cause the element has power on it on one side all the time and will short out when you take it out. you should see a screw on the plate that the element is attached to in the back of the oven that is how you get it out..

The oven element will not affect the top burners, Unless it tripped the breaker at the panel when the element burned it two. Is there power to the stove? The top burners have their own power and control separate.

Whirlpool electric range burner power light stays on but no heat

Hello givemeanidth.
Welcome to Fixya

You said, have a Whirlpool electric range (model rf363pxpt0) with standalone burners - the burner power indicator light stays lit whether the heat control knob is on or off, there is no heat coming from the burner on or off. You pulled the burner from the receptacle and one of the tabs broke off and stayed in the receptacle. You removed the tab and made sure no pieces remained in the receptacle then bought a replacement burner, no change. You put the replacement burner in the back burner of the same size and had heat within 10 seconds. You changed out the burner with the one that had been in the back of the range, no heat. As long as the breaker to the range is on the power light stays lit but no power to that one burner only.

What is the model number and the age of your range?

Waiting for your reply.
