Dear Edward: Likely, either cuff not tight enough or not in correct location on your arm or not holding device at correct height. Make sure you use Lithium Ion batteries. Try it on someone else. Dr Ron Grassi,Jupiter,Florida.USA. www.DrGrassi.com 30ad4e8.jpg

SOURCE: Whats the normal blood pressure for a 49 hispanic woman ?

There is no such thing as "normal". It depends on too many factors, so normal for you will be totally different then it will be for somebody else.

SOURCE: Does high blood pressures med.cause you to have memory problems? And is there a way to get back off high blood pressure meds.?

As you know from watching television, all medications have many potential side effects. However, having said that, as a working RN for 25 years, I have never heard of blood pressure meds causing memory problems. If anything, it is the other way around: high blood pressure may cause decreased circulation to the brain and therefore possibly cause some memory loss. The thing about blood pressure meds is this: they are very very important! If you allow high blood pressure to go untreated, you can damage your eyes and your kidneys, both which have tons of small blood vessels. You can also wind up having a stroke. Generally, it is unsafe to get off blood pressure medications on your own.

IS A DIASTOLIC OF 50 AN SYSTOLIC OF 114 / HEART RATE 70 TO LOW

The 50 of 50/114 is a little low, the 114 is good. Talk to your physician as taking the meds every 12 hours may be wrong for you.

If you are checking your own blood pressure, always take it 2 or 3 times a couple of minutes apart and write it down. Take your blood pressure morning, lunch, evening and bedtime. Do it for a week and take the results to the doctor.

I take Diovan HCTZ which also has a diuretic. You probably realise, you need to lose a few pounds.

What is normal blood pressure for a woman 87 years old

Your own physician is the best source of information about your specific health conditions. Generally, "normal" blood pressure is 120/80, generally. After 75, 140/90 - 150/90 is considered by many doctors to be acceptable, with an eye toward the risks of taking medications to lower blood pressure considered with the benefit to lower blood pressure. Habits like healthy diet, healthy weight, regular exercise, no smoking, etc are encouraged as a first response to healthy blood pressure. The DASH diet is recommended by American Heart Association for all ages, especially those dealing with high blood pressure or risk of stroke and heart attack. Again, talk with your physician for specific guidance on your blood pressure. Per New York Times, https://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2015/12/17/ask-well-blood-pressure-over-age-70/?_r=0

Sounds like a pretty decent blood pressure to me. Of course, see a doctor if you're concerned.

My blood preesure is 102 over 68 is this low for a 48year old

Yes that is a little low, but not really too much of a health concern. Go see a cardio doctor, because he may put you on meds to bring it up a bit.

I'm 66 yrs of age my blood pressure is 155 over 98, is that too high?

Hellfire, yes. You need to visit a doctor and get checked out. You need medication to control it, and then you either stay on the medication or modify your lifestyle a bit, a bit of exercise, watching salt intake and coffee intake. Stress is also not good!

My blood pressure was similar to yours and I have been on meds for 20 years. I am 63 in a few weeks. One thing if you are using a blood pressure monitor, you should do three readings. The first is always high. relax, breath deeply and slowly, and take it again.

There is a chart here. Get it sorted out sooner rather than later, like Monday!

This omron b/p hem-601 is new to me, but not new, hand me down. No manual. 1. How should I set the pressure button? 2. What is a normal b/p reading.

Setting it will happen automatically. As for a good blood pressure, that will in fact go up/down for many people, but, as an industry standard, it should be no more than 120/80, with a pulse of 99 or so, depending on your activity. You should always check your BP after 15 minutes of sitting still, it is called Resting Blood Pressure, it is the most accurate way to do this.... ALso take into consideration and blood pressure medication, you want to wait at least an hour after taking the med.... Take Care!! Guy

Blood pressure monitor problem

The two numbers that measure your blood pressure are written like a fraction: one number on top and one on the bottom. The top number in a blood pressure reading refers to the systolic pressure. It measures the pressure inside your blood vessels at the moment your heart beats. The bottom number represents your diastolic pressure. It measures the pressure in your blood vessels when your heart is resting between heartbeats. A good blood pressure for most people will be under 120/80, as most people with blood pressure problems have high blood pressure. However, extreme low blood pressure can also be a serious health concern.
