Did you put in a rebuilt clutch or a brand new one?
Shudder is usually weak clutch disc torsion springs.
Rebuilt discs may have weak torsion springs on the clutch disc while new clutch disc torsion springs should be "new" and should not cause clutch shudder.
One other cause can be broken or damaged motor mounts.

I drive the Corsa Lite 1.3 (1997). The clutch seems to be "sticky" on pull away and shudders slightly (with 1st gear) It is also (sometimes) a problem to engage 2nd gear - when gearing down.

If the mileage on the car is high it might be the clutch pressure plate going U/S and need to be replaced. It can also be (if fitted) the cable between the pedal and gearbox going bad and sticky. (If the car has hydraulic clutch activation it will obviously not have a cable.)

I replaced the rear main seal and replaced clutch of Toyota corolla 1.4 2007 model. The car shudders when pulling away and in between gear shifting. Please help

Was the flywheel machine smooth along with the new clutch? Was the pressure plate and disk replaced as a set? If the flywheel was not removed and machined then you have found your problem.

Hi I want to know if i bleed my new clutch will the shudder on first gear go away on my hyundai getz they say must give new clutch time to settle in

No, bleeding your clutch wont' help clutch judder. Neither will giving it time to settle in. That's a "go away and get used to the problem" answer. Likely the result of using cheap after-market parts.

That is when clutch slip happens-when the clutch is released. If the clutch disc is worn badly, it won't hold tight against the engine flywheel-it will slip, causing that shudder you feel. Have a mechanic verify this, but it sounds like you need a new clutch.

When i start to drive in first gear, i experience extreme shaking

If you have a manual gear box there are two things that you can check. First is the engine mounts especially the rear one to see if the rubber has broken away. Check all engine mounts for the same problem.. The second is a failing clutch or if you have a cable operated clutch it points to engine mounts. What appears to be happening is when you engage the clutch in first gear the torque reaction of the engine is rolling the gear box away from the clutch actuation arm or lever. The clutch slips ,the engine rolls back ,the clutch engages , the engine rolls and so you have a bad shudder. When you are moving the reaction is less as you move up through the gears . If all is good then have a qualified clutch and brake specialist do a check on the clutch itself.

Mini cooper clutch judder on starting off

It sounds like your clutch may have been replaced not to long ago, but the Flywheel (on the back of the Engine where the Clutch Disc makes contact), may be warped. If your clutch hasn't been replaced and you have this "shudder", then put the parking brake on, start the car, place the gear shift in 2nd and with your foot on the clutch and the brake, slowly let the clutch out. If the clutch is let out slowly and the engine dies out, then your clutch is okay. If the engine doesn't die, then your clutch is worn out and could be giving you your shudder. Hopefully this will help. Next time, leave a little bit more information such as mileage or if the clutch has ever been replaced, how long this has been going on and the such. Please write me back if this doesn't give you an idea as to what and where the shuddering may be coming from.

Good Luck in Advance,

Clutch shudder and loose gears

It sounds to me like the clutch is slipping or it was not properly adjusted. I would take it back and tell them to take it out for a drive around the block. If they still refuse to do anything about it, take it to another garage and get their opinion. Better yet, get a written estimate. Then take it back to the garage that put the clutch in and tell them either fix the problem for free or you are going to take it elsewhere to get it fixed and sue them in small claims court. I do know that when i replaced my clutch, you need to have about a 100 mile break in. But still, the gears should not be loose and it should shudder. If anything, a new clutch will grab hard with very little play untill it is broke in.

Clutch shudder and loose gears

Who ever did the job has a right to fix it. They probably didn't want to deal with it and waste their time and money to remedy the problem. Call them, and tell them, that if they don't want to find the cause, that you will get a lawyer involved, that should put a fire under their butts. Keep your receipts for proof of what was done.
