SOURCE: ajust speed
Yes, Unfortunately it is a technical solution, the twist grip speed control is a potentiometer (variable resistor) other then limited the amount the twist grip is turned , the only other way to limit the speed is to add a fixed resistor to the "top" end of the "pot", lets say you want a 10% reduction and you have a 1000 ohm pot you would add a 100 resistor to the "top" of the pot, if it doesnt work correctly change the connection to the other endof the pot

ok, sounds like the speed pot,
Can you move the throttle lever up and down, try going along at a constant speed (losing power ?) then move the lever up & down ?
does it improve response ? if so replace the speed pot.

Hi, That sounds like the speed pot is faulty,
When going along push the lever in the upwards direction as well as forward , does it speed up ? does it response ? if so then that's the problem.
There could be a issue with the metal key making a good contact when inserted.

SOURCE: my lake 4 electric scooter
If your scooter should slow down and speeds up on its own without control after being fully charged, then it means the control board need to be checked. It is having some kind of partial contact in the unit hereby causing the scooter to speed up and slow down randomly.
Most times there used to be a breach in the lines inside the control board, that way making the scooter act irregularly.
Have the control board checked and the wiring checked for any partial contact, once that is corrected, the scooter will be able to function the normal way it is supposed to.
Hope this was helpful to you.

I believe i know what the problem is. This is a battery issue. What happens over time, is batteries by being charged over and over, eventually get a memory, and cells eventually slowly go dead. Meaning this: Reason, is it feels like someone is unhooking your battery as it slows down, and the reason it starts speeding up after shutting it down a few minutes, is it regains some strength. Batteries when cells are getting bad, they get hot faster when trying to function at full capacity. When you turn it off, they cool a little, and acid in battery slowly drain down, then when starting it up again, it flows up again, until gets hot and does it again.
Conclution: I believe by replacing the battery, this issue will be solved, if for some reason it still does it, only other step is motor is getting worn, where barring is getting hot, and causing the shut down as a safety fire shut down, to prevent further damage. BUT , i doubt that, I believe battery is the issue.
I hope this helps you, Mike from Fixya.
