SOURCE: Blinking light

the symptom is usually caused by a breakdown in the power supply circuit. in most modern receivers (transistorized and/or ic), it may also be caused by a breakdown in the horizontal deflection circuits (hor. oscillator, pre-drive, or drive circuits). supply voltages for the tuner, vif, sif, and vertical output are usually supplied by the horizontal output circuit. but if you doesnt know anything about these stuffs, better bring it to a qualified service tecnhician.

SOURCE: No Picture No Sound other than chirping

From description you provided that the red light is on or a stand by light and a chirping sound, chirping come from horizontal section maybe H-OUT transistor is busted. Look also the power supply section is in the P-BOARD which has the reading of test point =170v, P-board is a power supply board ,bad regulation of the incoming voltage could cause the issue and maybe there is a capacitor across the incoming line which dry up or leaky already and cause the problems ,change it out with one identical rating.
Also Cold solder issues - each component is soldered into small holes on the printed circuit board which in turn connects said component to the other components. Due to time, heat, use, some solder joints would be cracked or loose. It is possible that the cold solder is still minimally connected (hanging by a thread). When the TV turns on heat would be generated which would be sufficient to further loosen up the solder joint to the point it no longer provides electrical contact. Jarring the unit creates movement inside enough to re establish the contact, sometime good enough sometimes not enough.

Again, since the unit still operates (sometimes) then it is highly probable that there are no defective components. As you have surmised, it is possibly a loose connection, solder joints are "connections" except that molten soldering lead is used to attach/connect the component to the board, "loose connection" in this sense is equal to "cold solder".

Again on the assumption of no defective parts, then seeking a more experienced buddy for the soldering might be to your advantage. This is of course in addition to the possible electrical hazards when repairing....If i have helped, please click fixya. It is the only way i get paid for my work...

Good luck:

SOURCE: TV won't "talk" with satellite cable

Try to see if you have 5volts for your EEPROM. If the voltage is normal try to replace your EEPROM or try to reprogram it. Your EEPROM is corrupted so that's why it will not store data.

How do I set my swr on my galaxy dx 33 hml CB radio with a astatic swr meter and a top loaded tunable fire stick antenna

Watch the meter as you adjust the antenna. Try to get an SWR of 1:1, or as close to it as you can get.

Hi i've got 1996 softail ,im chaseing more power ! im thinking single fire ignition and miniki? carb is this the best bolt on option avalible ? thanks

I have used a single fire, I felt very little differance . I like the CV carb mtself ,, mikuni is more tuneable.. more tinkering .. you lookin for power /torque 1 get a tunable ing module.. 1 freeer flowing / not loud slipons, open backed air cleaner / k&n filter .. 2 increase piston /CI s ..3. head work ...good luck.. harleytalking.com

Power meter on my dx-979 barely moves off of 0 when transmitting the swr meter also hovers around 1.0 no matter what channel...not used to seeing such low swr readings and almost nothing on the power...

I would check the radio with an external meter to see if it is the transmitter or the Meter in the radio. If it is the meter in the radio it could have a bad detection Diode or just oout of adjustment or even a bad calibration pot. other wise start looking to fix your transmitter like finals or other similar problem.

Whats the best after market slip on pipe for both power increase and a nice sound...i have been looking at a very reasonably priced Vance and Hines S4 for just $249?

Vance and hines is always a good choice of pipe, the nice thing about vance and hines is that you can back out the hex bolts on the back of the muffler and repack it when it gets old, or unpack it if you want it louader. Makes it quite tunable. I had a vance and hines 4-1 on my CBR 1000 and I was very satified. The price you are mentioned is good too. The V&E I had on my bike had a good sound at idle and rev and sounded awesome when I tached the bike up.

Well, some meters are set different than others,to see what is going on,you need a good WATT-SWR meter, but that is not a bad reading of SWR, you can get one at Radio Shack. You can not go by the meter that is on the radio,it,s probably not set right. hope this helps..

Used the CAL function for the SWR. When I transmit, the Ant. light comes on and the meter is above 3. Do I need to shorten my antenae?

not necessarily. it may be electrically short. if the swr is higher on channel one than it is on channel fourty, your antenna is electrically short. if the swr is higher on channel fourty than it is on channel one, your antenna is electrically long. no matter what anyone says, all antennas are tunable. just cut the shielding back at the top of the antenna and adjust if necessary. if it is a steel whip, it should have a set screw at the bottom. if you still have problems with high swr, ground the mount to your vehicle. if you still have high swr, you might have to try a non ground plane antenna.

1984 S-10 2.8L carb

Mild cam, aftermarket intake with better carb and headers will give you a bit better performance but you can't really get too radical or you will just start breaking stuff. Tunable ignition is nice but really expensive for anything that works. Or, just get a 350v8 and stuff it in there!

For this to work please make sure your TV is tuned to its "AV" input channel. It will not display a picture on any of the normal tunable channels.
