I am using windows vista and i have tried using stereo mix I have enabled the mic I have unmuted it. I have also tried recording my voice and the playback as nothing but the video(using hyper and camtasia to try this). I am trying to record my voice and play a game while recording it for youtube. the audio driver is realtek and it is the latest one

thanks for the suggestions but it did not work I am trying to use the stereomix as my default recording device. If I use that and try to record my voice I get the games music that I am recording but my not my voice with it. Plus when I record as the mic being default I get static and there is not option for me to mute the feed back in my mic. Is there anything I can do I got it working on my desktop but that is windows xp

You have to indicate the Operating System, and what steps you have tried so far?

Go to control panel and sound devices and unmute the mic under record options. To avoid feed back use headphones or mute the mic in the play back option. Audacity is a good open source application to use to record on your PC.

Are you using an on board mic or an external PC mic?
To record you don't need the playback mic unmuted, just the record mic option. You also need to select the mic as the default record device.
R-Click Realtek icon in system tray
    Click Sound Manager
    Click Microphone tab
    Bring up recording volume
Click Playback speaker icon/button to show a red X (muted)
    Click OK
in your recording software, find the preferences or I/O settings, and select the realtek mic as the input/record source for audio.
Use a PC ($8 walmart), pro mics tend to need special matching transformers, or interfaces. I use an Edirol FA64 with a studio mic on both PC & Mac platforms.

Acer aspire 5920 running vista has built in mic not working

Hey,

It is all because the Microphone is not set as a default device to start recording.

Its like your computer has no device for recording even if the computer has connected with Mic.

Just change the settings and enjoy..!!!

Check the below link:

http://www.vista4beginners.com/How-To-Install-and-Setup-a-Microphone

Hope it helps.

Acer aspire 5610Z mic problem

nope, PCI Flash memory doesn't have anything to do with your mic issue. This may just be a configuration issue. Go to control panel -- sounds and audio devices. Go to Voice Recording under Voice tab. It should not be grayed out. Click Test hardware and follow the instructions. This should help you resolve the problem. If all else fail, reinstall the audio driver.

Skype video using Acer Aspire Mini Laptop camera?

If you have a WEB camera you need to configure your video Webcam settings. Open Skype click on Tools - Options - Video Settings - select your Webcam model. When you open Skype click on Tools - Options - Audio Settings and click on Microphone and select the microphone you are using and save the setting.
If you still have problems with your mic. then - To test if the microphone is working, go to Start - Programs - Accessories - Entertainment - Sound Recorder and record you voice. Can you see your voice recording, the green line should vary as you speek.
If you see a flat green line, then the microphone is either faulty or the wrong microphone is selected.

I can't use my built-in mic of my acer aspire one notebook.

To test the microphone, click "start" button, then "Control Panel", then "Sounds and Audio Devices". On the popup window that opens, click on the "Voice" tab, then click on the button that says "Test Hardware". After several seconds this will bring up a test program that will show a noise level meter when you're speaking into the microphone. (The default device listed under voice recording should be "Realtek HD Audio Input".)
