SOURCE: clavinova keys not making full sound when hit

USUALLY the keys are matrixed in groups of 8 starting at a "C".

Each key USUALLY has two contacts. The differential time between the contacts closing is measured as "velocity" which is used to control the amplitude of the sound. The matrixing of the keys may be done in any of several ways but usually the bank busses are driven and the keys outputs are merged with diodes. You really need a schematic and Yamaha will usually supply the service manuals on CD for about $15.

If conductive rubber contactss are used, those should be cleaned with 99% isoprophyl alcohol. DO NOT USE CONTACT CLEANER !!!!!

Also clean the traces the contacts contact.

When a bank of the 8 keys are dead, you MAY have a broken trace on the coircuit board or a broken cable wire. Be careful inremoving ribbon cables as the end wires are pulled from the contacts unless the pull is distributed across the cable.

Get my mute button to work

You must take apart the two halves of the remote .
Remove the rubber buttons bad (It usually is one piece)

Get a bottle of 99% iso alcohol at any pharmacy and let the whole rubber pad soak for 2 mins.

While it is soaking, take the end of a rubber pencil, and use it to clean the pc board by rubbing in circles on the printed resistor ink pads individually.

Remove the rubber button pad from the alcohol and dry well.

Take the pencil eraser and rub each individual black resistor ink with it.
Then dip a Q tip in the alcohol and do ALL of the resistor ink on both the pc board and the rubber pad.

Re assemble and there you have it!

Usually when you open the remote and pull the rubber all in one button key pad out, it will be sticky, so clean the button holes on the top piece of the remote (The Insides Individually) or the problem will continue.
The rubber keys will eventually return to rubber and the small black resistor ink on the opposite side will also wear in time.

I have seen this in the shop now for almost 30 years, and it is 95% the same every time!

I hope this will help!

What about the key pad? Is it malfunctioning? If yes then may be that some fine dust may have got collected between the keys and the buttons. So, remove the front of the phone, lift the rubber pad and clean the buttons with a soft cloth and the clean the rubber pad as well and re-assemble. If any key is bad then it should be replaced by a trained technician, preferably from Nokia Care.

The b key strikes to hard, so there is any touch resopnce on the middle B key, what can i do to fix if?

You will have to clean the keyboard touch pads. its a pain full job because one has to remove at least 50 screws before one gets access to the key pads. Remove the back cover and make a note of what screws goes ware. Then remove the screws that hold a long circuit board over the keyboard ( lots of small screws ) . Invert this board and clean the black carbon tracks as well as the rubber key pads with solutions like WD40. Install it back in the reverse order making sure you put all the right screws in the right place. Should work fine after that until dust again gets in between.

It's a Roland HP-7e digital piano about three years old.

You may need to clean the contacts which are usually conductive rubber. I explained stuff for another Roland problem with two keys that were intermittent. I have an EP-7 that I had to do the cleaning of the key contacts. Use 91 or 99 % Isoprophyl alcohol to clean BOTH the conductive "pill" (Black under silicone rubber domes) AND the traces on the board where they press. Clean gently as the traces have a hard black coating.

Most of these devices use a conductive rubber "pill" that is pressed against a set of interdigitated finger traces on a circuit board beneath the keys. These can get dirty OR can have a crack in the circuit board/trace.

The latter is fatal. The dirt you disassemble and clean with a Q tip and 91 or 99% isoprophyl alcohol.

Clean both the "pill" (usuall black) and the place it presses against.

Keep the alcohol off the plastic case.

Certain numbers on the hand held set do not respond when pressed. The nubers are 9 and, sometimes, 3 on the touch pad of the hand held. Why is this and how can I fix it? Thank you so much for any help you...

Sounds Like The Key Pad Backings Are Dirty This Happens With Time. You Can Fix It By Taking The Phone Apart And Accessing The Rubber Pad Behind The Numbers. Clean The Black Circles On The Rubber Pad With Rubbing Alcohol And A Q-tip Also Clean The Receiving End Of The Black Rubber Side Also Known As The Circuit Board. There Are Half Inch Or So Circles On The Circuit Board, Clean Them Off Using A Q-tip And Rubbing Alcohol As Well.

Please Note: Remove The Battery Before Attempting This And Find Any Screws That Are Holding The Device Together. After That Get A Small Flat Head Screwdriver And Work It Between The Gap Along The Entire Edge Of The Phone ( Starting With The Mouth Piece Is The Easiest) Please Take Extra Care Not To Break The Phone If You Still Cant Seem To Get It Apart Please Check Again For More Screws.

Key pad

open the front key face by placing a card on the side of the phone. careful not to poke it harder as there are some chips inside the front slide. once it is open, clean it or try to adjust the keypad face then place it back. If problem still exist, bring it to the mobile center for repair.
