Re: cannot shut vacuum on hose

Will the main unit operate if you switch to manual operation. If so, then it could be that the PC board has a stuck relay and you will have to replace the PC Board. Could be the switch inside the handle. You take your hose to your local dealer and or someone that you know that has a beam system and plug it in and see if it works or not. If it does, then it is in the main unit, if it doesn't. then there is a problem with the hose or switch asm.

Vacuum spits dirt out of the back end as I'm vacuuming.

Heather,Does the vacuum have a switch or a lever somewhere that makes it change from floor to hose? If so, it sounds like you've been using it on the hose selection but not actually sweeping using the hose. In other words, on an upright vacuum when sweeping just with the vacuum normally have the lever on floor setting and if you use the hose/attachments you have to have the lever on hose setting for things to work correctly. Hope this helps!

Vacumm just shut off

It could be that you sucked up a piece of paper or plastic which got stuck in the hose and the vacuum just shut off due to over burn protection.
Check the hose if it is stuck. You can drop a penny and see if it glides and comes from the other end

Most good vacuums these days come with a tiny reset switch. Just press it with a pointed needle or pen tip. It your vacuum shut off due to protection feature, it should come back to life.

Kirby G5 shuts off by itself

this could be a couple of things, first I am suspecting it may be the cord. goes for so long and shuts off, possible break in the cord. Usually the machine will have normal operation at this point.

Overheating or unusual warmness coming from the machine itself, could be a possible motor problem. Usually a burning smell is associated with this.

Thirdly, perhaps the "deadman" switches are not covered properly. this could be as simple as the bag container where it joins to the machine has come loose or dislodged enough to shut the machine down. There is also another deadman switch located on the brush housing and the attachment hose. If those have been switched recently try re-switching it back off and on again to see if that corrects the problem.
Good luck!!

Troubleshoot Bissell Lift-Off Revolution Pet Vacuum Cleaner

Probably a hose clog. Check the hose on the back of the cannister. Most likely clogged where it attaches to allow debris into the cannister. If cannister is not filling up, that's a sure sign. To remove from top of back of cannister, just turn the ring on the end of the hose to release. Take it outside and push a long thin object through it to force out the clogged hair or debris. The motor is designed to shut off the vacuum cleaner for 30 minutes when this happens to avoid burning up your motor.

Vacuum loses power while operating. Just shuts down and will not restart by toggling switch. After a brief (cool down?) period it will start.
Is there a breaker/reset? Does it have a feature that automatically shuts it down when the bag is full?
I can't locate my owner's manual, so am completely in the dark or dirt.

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
Depending on the Brand name and Model # there is what they call Thermal Switches on some of the vacuums that prevent the motor from over heating and possible burn out of the motor If the hose is clogged, the bag is full or the filter is dirty and the air does not flow threw the filter. Any one of the three situations could cause the vac to say “cut out” and stop the motor. So check with your local vac dealer.
So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Electrolux Canister - Stops working after 1-2...
Our vac works for a short time, then shuts off and makes clicking noise as if trying to restart again. Works after cooling for a while but for another very short time. Your suggestion on fix would be greatly appreciated.

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure
I would advise that it could be a thermal switch or a regular switch that the thermal switch is over heating and needs replacement – there are small hoses in the door section that could have been pinched or kinked and it stopping the air flow from the vacuum – also check for a clogged or plugged vacuum hose, a full vacuum bag or a dirty vacuum filter. Check the thermal switch or reg switch or the hoses in the door. Or feel free to contact your local vacuum dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or call the factory @ the phone number listed below: Customer Service

Vacuum shuts off

if you want to fix this problem gently pry up the air flow control knob and look down at the plastic hose connected below the control valve. insert a small screwdriver and push off the hose from the valve. this disconnects the bag full indicator but will let the vacuum operate normally at full vacuum. you will change the bag when suction gets low. this will save you at least $100 repair bill.
