Question about Kenmore Washing Machines

Open Question

I have a Kenmore Series 90 washer that no longer can get hot water when selected. I changed the water inlet valve and have the same issue.

I checked hoses for flow when changing valve. Both were good. Any thoughts. Do you think I my have gotten a bad new valve? Replaced valve with a new 285805 valve. Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, the only other thing I would do and you may have done this is to put the hose directly over in the washer tub and turn the water on to check the flow. If that's good then replace the water valve.

SOURCE: Kenmore 90 Series Washer : cold water fills at just a trickle:

your hot water goes through the water heater so contaminates settle in the heater. the cold does not, there is a screen inside the fill valve where the hose hooks to the valve on the machine. if this in not plugged then the fill valve will have to be replaced. because of the build up of contaminates..

SOURCE: Kenmore washer 90 series will not fill up with water

You can shut off the water, then remove the hoses to see if the screens on the fill valve are gunked up. This is much easier to do than to replace the valve. I think you'll have sucess on that route :)

Hello, i have a kenmore 90 series washer. Just recently, it has started to fill very slowly only on the cold water cycle and the temperature knob isn't working right, only cycles between cold and warm, no...

The first thing to check are the screens at the inlet of your washer hoses. Turn off water supply to washer then remove the hoses at the washer side, then look into the inlet valves and you should see one screen in each hose inlet, carefully pry out the screens and clean in the sink then reinstall screens and the hoses and check for leaks.. this should speed up your cold water fill, you may still have to replace the control switch or solenoind valve assy to get your hot water..Easy job hope this helps GOOD LUCK

Kenmore series washer- losing water pressure

it does sound like you have a inlet valve going bad.
i assume this happens on both the hot and cold water sides. if not try and switch hose and see what happens if the water pressure drops then replace the water valve.

Kenmore HD Series 80 - hot water trickles in.

Pull the two screws at the bottom corners of the control panel. Pivot the panel up. Lever the two metal keepers underneath forward and up to remove them. Tilt the housing forward and pull it toward you to remove it. Make sure you unhook the lid switch wiring plug before you remove the housing.

Water inlet valve should all be one piece for hot and cold.

Washer keeps filling up with hot water

Hi

If your washer is overfilling, check these: Water-inlet valve A defect in the water-inlet valve may mean that it's no longer able to shut off completely when the electricity has been turned off to it. If this occurs, the valve may leak and drip water into the clothes tub. In time, the water may accumulate substantially. If this happens, you need to replace the valve.

Water-level switch A defect--or an obstruction--in the water-level switch may mean that it can't tell the water to shut off. So the machine overflows. This switch senses the water level in the clothes tub. It's usually a diaphragm device with a small, clear tube attached between the switch and the bottom of the washer's outer tub. As the water level in the tub increases, the pressure on the air in the tube increases. When the pressure reaches a certain level, it activates the switch, shuts off the water, and signals the timer to begin the agitate cycle. You can either clear any obstruction in the tube or replace the water-level switch.

Please do rate the solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee
