5C00 Error Code as well as yellow and green alternating lights

To fix this error is much easier than it looks. Unplug the printer power. Move the ink cartridge cradle to the left. Over to the right you will see a small pad about 1cm square. This pad and the area around should be covered with ink. Get a cloth and press down on this pad - it's not fixed so should come away with the cloth, otherwise use tweezers gently. Squeeze the pad several times between your thumb and forefinger while inside the microfibre cloth to remove ink build up. Then when not much ink comes out on the cloth, clean the area in the printer around the pad so that looks free from ink too. Then position the pad back in place, move the cradle back into position, plug in and switch on - should work fine now.

Canon MP210 printer: There's a 3/16" wide by 16"

Hello.

Yes. That is the encoder strip.

Gently connect the strip on either end behind the carriage rod. The strip has an "L" on one side and a dot on the other. Be sure you put the "L" side on the left. There is a small **** behind the printer head that you must slide the encoder strip through before attaching.

After connecting, if the strip needs cleaning, moisten a clean cloth or tissue with water, then gently grasp the strip between the thumb and forefinger, and carefully pull the moistened cloth along the entire length of the strip in a right-to-left direction. Repeat this step with a different portion of the cloth to ensure that all foreign matter is removed.

Allow the encoder strip to dry, or gently dry the encoder strip with a clean, dry cloth or tissue. Position the cradle near the center, and then plug the power cord in the printer. Close the top cover to allow the print cartridge cradle to move bac.

Hope this helps.

Printer Cradle does not remove to center of cradle rod

Bad cartridge carrier, probably uneconomical to get it fixed. However, try unplugging the power cord for 10 seconds. Good luck.

What is the cartridge cradle

The cartridge cradle is where the ink cartridges are installed. It slided back and forth on a silver rail. If the rail gets dirty, the cradle can stick and not move freely. Try cleaning the rail with a soft clean dry cloth.

I've also see the cradle become disconnected from the belt that moves it back and forth. If that has occurred, and it is out of warranty, it will need replacement.
