E-Machines T2642 PC Desktop from mother board 3 cables came unplugged 1 is green pwr led 1 is pwr s/w-black ,one is red hdd led i just need to know what order to plug them back in

Sorry you are having trouble.
Led's have a + and a - side.
With a magnifying glass you should be able to see where each one goes on the board. Start with pwr s/w. when you have it on the right pins then you can push the button and turn it on. I have done with with a screwdriver and quickly touching two pins at a time until it comes on.
Next the power LED. This one should be on all the time.
Last id hdd LED. This one will only be on when HDD is active and reading or writing.
The connector you are looking for is normally in the right hand corner opposite the power supply and has all the wires from the case going to it.

My Toshiba external hard drive powers up but my Toshiba laptop doesn't read it. The blue powr light is on and the rive makes a clicking noise. HELP!

Hello there...

Looks like your HDD is having mechanical problem, this could happen due to a shock (dropped or bumped maybe?) which can cause your HDD I/O head loose from its track.

I'm sorry but my advice is prepare a HDD replacement.

hope that helps... :D

What is the normal noise for Samsung HDD

You should hear a low humming and some electronic beeping. If you're hearing a mechanical clicking or clinging or anything that sounds like metal bumping around in there, it's toast. I'm sorry but there are not mechanical parts in there, just electric motors, electromagnetic actuators and circuitry. While it's off, shake it. If you hear something rattling around, I'm sorry to say that it's done. Does it still work? what are you trying to accomplish?

The HDD control board does not generate any response when the IPU sends a
read/write signal to the MSU.
• Software defective
• Poor connection between BICU and MSU
• HDD defective.
Try reset the software; press the keys numeral and point simultaneously by but of 10 seconds, the machine is extinguished and returned to ignite. If it does not react to this it can be damaged the hard disk changes it.

No HDD activity and blank screen

unfortunately i have to say yes it is time to get a new machine. That is unless you want to take it to a repair shop and have them look at it. Whatever it is it is definately hardware and yes i do believe it is the cpu which cannot be changed most of the time in notebooks. The graphics however may be expandable but i cannot tell you about your machine. You can find this by reading any material that came with the computer or by contacting the manufacturer. Sorry for the bad news but please don't forget to rate my response.

Hdd maxtor

Sorry about that last link. Go here..

http://www.maxtor-hdd.narod.ru/

Navigate to the larger chart in this page, and select the third link on the list. If you read across, it identifies itself as the hard drive you mentioned - Calypso family, 80GB.

That will get you what you need.

Mega Raid Error - Ext3 FS Error

Q1: Sorry, don't understand what you're asking. If you're asking which physical disc is causing the problem, then it's the one on SCSI ID 6. (I'm assuming it's SCSI discs :)

Q2. You *can* run Linux happily on a single disc - whether you *want to* or not depends solely on how reliable you want the system to be and how secure the data.

Q3. I assume you're asking "If the HDD is faulty, why doesn't the system continuously reboot?"

You may have a disc which is on the way to being faulty - depending on temperature, humidity, power voltages etc, it may work fine and then just not quite be able to read a block and so you get the failure. Best replace it before it fails completely.
