Question about Sony Televison & Video

Open Question

No video, only audio on Sony LCD tv

Googled the problem and tried replacing the T-Con board, but still no video, only audio. Any other suggestions for parts/fixes? Or should I just give in and buy a new television?

As long as it's the same model, you can. You will be replacing the entire LCD display. Be very careful in doing so.

SOURCE: Sony Bravia television hdmi stopped working

Installing a new software update will this issue. All you need is a compatible USB flash drive. Go to support on Sony.com. Look up your tv model and if there is an update, just follow the instructions to install it yourself. I have a KDL-46S5100 and this worked great. The download and instructions page I used was : http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-download.pl?upd_id=4769#install

SOURCE: Sudden loss of picture and sound on 40

I do not think T-Con can shut down TV, all it can do to blank the screen, I mean stop picture data towards LCD panel.
Sony would not give T-Con separately as its counted part of LCD Panel but its available in some part shops.
Let me know model number of TV and what boards you have been replaced in TV.
Are these power supply and main boards.
Thanks.

I started having vertical lines on my screen whick first it was only around the upper corner edge

I would suggest that you check ribbon connections between t-con and LCD panel. Also I would have you power supply checked. Unclean sources from the power supply can cause all kinds of strange video problems. If the power supply checks out fine, and the t-con/LCD panel ribbon connections are ok, I would suspect a faulty LCD panel. You can try replacing the t-con, they should be cheap enough to take the gamble. But if you don't want to gamble, get a diagnoses done on the set.

Have a Sony Bravia that is showing red lines or overlay to the picture. It appears to be in the darker areas of the screen. We've tried resetting the TV and it's not a problem with our cable service...

Chances are it is the T-CON Board that is on the LCD Panel. Problem is , you can only get the T-CON board when you replace the LCD Panel. The Cost would be more than the unit cost to buy new.
I hope this helps,
