The command to format the card will be found in the menu system - check in the manual. It is necessary to format it in the camera to ensure that the firmware recognises it and can write uncorrupted images to it.

Have you ever formatted the card in the camera? If not, you need to. However, if you have valuable pics on the card, you wlll need to download them first to your computer using a separate card reader if necessary. Then, format the card in the camera.

Nikon Coolpix5700 and Windows 7. I used to transfer pictures from camera to computer without problems. Now I cannot transfer at all.

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Windows Photo Gallery or Nikon Transfer.

How can i move my pictures from camera to memory card??? i don't have my usb cord

Insert a memory card and format it if necessary. Press the playback button (right-pointing triangle). Press MENU. Select "Copy". Select camera to card. Select "All".

This procedure will copy pictures from the camera's internal memory to the memory card. It leaves the pictures in the internal memory -- you can delete them by removing the card and then selecting "Memory Format" from the Setup menu.
