I need help my Motorola scanner is frozen and wont warm/cold boot

Its an MC9000 series (MC9090). the scanner is frozen on a white background that has a blue motorola symbol. and says MC9000 series

You may need to reflash the OS. you can normally download it from symbol webpage. you will need a cradle and an SD card.

SOURCE: My MC9090-G scanner is stuck

Actually if it is continuously rebooting, it is usually because someone was holding down the trigger through a cold boot process. That's what puts it into this continuous reboot loop. To get out of it do a cold boot again (pop the battery part of the way out, hold down the power button and trigger simultaneously, and then push the battery back in while the power button and trigger are still down). But as soon as you push in the battery to the point where you hear it click, release the trigger. If you hold it in too long, the unit will start continuously rebooting.

Hi,
 
I've found this method works best especially on Window Mobile versions, windows CE does not seem to have the problem.

  1. Have the battery inserted, 
  2. Remove the battery so its at the first stage of removal,
  3. Hold down the On/Off button and trigger,
  4. Insert the battery, still with On/Off button and trigger held,
  5. As soon as the amber light flashes release the On/Off button and trigger.
  6. Unit will attempt to cold boot and then warm boot,
  7. If it works then it will boot through to the Windows Splash screen or desktop.
  8. If it fails and continuously warm boots, remove the battery fully as soon as it cycles a warm boot.
  9. The terminal will not switch off at this stage and will completely drain the backup battery and RAM, giving you a complete clean cold boot
  10. Leave the battery out fro 20 minutes.
  11. Power on and see how far you get. 
If it still fails after this I would suggest a complete re-flash of the system. Please post a follow up question on how to do this.

this is because you are cold booting the unit. Everytime you cold boot a 9090 it re-sets all saved settings. You need to warm boot only unless you want the unit reset to default. any problems please mail technical@codeo.co.uk for support - we supply MC9090's in refurbished condition complerte with like new warranty incase you need any

Re-set key on the Motorolla MC9090 RF Scanner


Take out the battery, press and hold the power button and trigger for 30 sec and push back the battery the release the buttons.
