Question about Apple iPod mini M9160LL/A MP3 Player

IPod is dead but can't charge

When I plug it into a computer the apple logo appears and sometimes a red X. When I try using my iPod dock the Apple logo appears again.
I tried holding the menu and select down but that does nothing.
Is there a solution or should I take it in to get fixed? Would it be cheaper to buy a new one?
Can someone please help me?

Reset Click Wheel Ipod (newer ipods including resetting an ipod video)
1. Flip the Hold switch on and off and make sure it ends up no longer on hold.
2. Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons (center Button) until the Apple logo appears (may take 5-11 seconds, and you may need to repeat this step)
If this not work for you try plugging your ipod into computer or wall power

Froozen and wont do ANYTHING


  1. Toggle the Hold switch. To do this, slide the switch to Hold (an orange bar appears) and then slide it back (orange bar is hidden).
  2. Reset the iPod by holding down the Menu and Center buttons for 10 seconds.
    • If the Apple logo appears on the display, connect the iPod to a computer and verify that it appears in iTunes and can play music. If the iPod appears in iTunes and can play music, no further troubleshooting is needed.
    • If the Apple logo does not appear or the iPod is not seen in iTunes, connect the iPod to a power source by either plugging it into an Apple iPod USB Power Adapter or directly into a computer's USB port.
  3. Let the iPod charge for at least 20 minutes. Note: If the iPod is connected to a computer, make sure the computer does not sleep, standby, or hibernate during the 20-minute charging period.
  4. After the iPod has charged for at least 20 minutes and while it is still connected to the power source, toggle the Hold switch again as in step 1.
  5. Try resetting the iPod by holding down the Menu and Center buttons for 10 seconds.

My ipod wont turn on or charge.


More than likely the battery just needs to be replaced. I let my nano go dead and it was doing the same thing. So just get it replaced and that should fix your problem.

Hi, Lets try 1 more step.!!!!!!!!!!

Try connecting ur ipod to ur computer..If desktop, then conenct it to USB port at the rear of ur computer....Make sure ur computer is not set to sleep mode or screen saver mode... Charge it for at least 4 to 8 hrs(without a break)... Then try reseting the ipod when it is connected....

Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.

Ipod won't charge


It means the hard drive is crashing. If it's clicking it means there is a problem with the hard drive. Try restoring your ipod or reformatting it.

Reset To reset your iPod:
  • 1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
  • 2. Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step. 5rs_reset_clickwheel.png
    Tip:
    • If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.
    • If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep.

After plugging in Nike attachment nano wont even switch on


I don't know what the Nikec onnector is or does, but I can help you, if you think your ipod is dead. This happened to me to. I was listening to it when I arrived at my destination, and I thought I turned it off and I put it in my pocket. Later that day when I went to listen to it, it wouldn't turn on at all. Aparently, it had stayed on. Hold the pause button for five to ten seconds. The apple symbol will appear on your ipod. Immeadility put it in your docking station before it goes away. Your ipod will turn on, and itwill start charging.

Ipod nano 1st generation trouble! help!


Sounds like a corrupt hard drive.

put it into disk mode

  1. Before placing the iPod into disk mode, you should verify that it is charged.
  2. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Set it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
  3. Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons for at least 6 seconds until the Apple logo appears.
  4. When the Apple logo appears, release the Menu and Select buttons and immediately press and hold the Select and the Play/Pause buttons until the Disk Mode screen appears.
Find it in "my computer", right click it and select format. Choose the FAT32 option and hit OK.

Once its done, restart your computer and plug in your pod. Start itunes and it should automatically reinstall the ipod firmware.
