Clear cache and delete unnecessary files. Cleaning the registry will help too. Go download a program called Ccleaner. It will work wonders for you.

Make sure that everything is backed up on an external hard drive as it indicates a failing hard drive
check for an internet speed problem as well

SOURCE: Ice Maker too slow
bayfishr, I'll try to give you an idea on how this thing works and let you do some checks. The cycle is controlled by temp. The harvesting process begins when the IM thermostat closes signaling the harvest temp has been reached. The closed thermostat supplies power to the IM motor and heater. Therefore the colder you keep it, the faster the production unless something has failed. I see a lot of heaters fail. You can test this. When the IM starts it cycle, test the voltage from L to H on the module, they will be marked. Should read 120V. The heater on the bottom of the mold should be getting hot. Disconnect the harnes and ohm it. Should ohm out at approx 72 ohms, same test points. If this checks good, check the center wheel on the module itself. Two clips keep the wheel in place. If one is cracked off, the IM will not fucntion properly. Other than colder temps, there is no way to adjust the speed of the cycle. Keep the flap in front of the ice-maker down so that the cold air is drawn across that IM. Catriver.

So what could make "whirring" sounds in a computer? Motors. What has motors? Fans, Hard Disc Drives, Floppy Drives and CD/DVD ROM Drives. I can't think of anything else. It doesn't sound like a CD/DVD/Floppy drive because you would only hear the noise when it is being used. You blew out the dust but that didn't help? So either a fan is going bad or the HDD is going bad. Listen inside the case and see if you can pinpoint where the noise is. If you can get your hands on a stethoscope use that. If it is the fan in the power supply it would probably be easiest to replace the power supply. The other fans are easy and cheap to replace. If the noise is from the HDD back up your data ASAP and go shopping for a new one. It can not be repaired. If it is the cooling fan for the processor replace that quick too because if it dies you could burn up the processor. Good thing you caught this before damage is done. I will assume this is not some sort of interference coming through the speakers but stranger things have happened. Also check to see if anything inside the case, like wires, might be brushing against the the blades on one of the fans. That is all I can think of right now.

SOURCE: Slow Internet Browsing

54 Mbps is the speed between your computer and your wireless router. The .8 Mbps is the speed of your connection between the router and the internet. You should call your ISP and ask what your speeds should be; there could be something wrong on their end or your modem might be malfunctioning. It's also possible that your WiFi connection itself has a weak signal. That can be corrected by moving the router and the computer closer together, or getting a signal relay and putting it between them.
