Question about Dolphin Pool & Spa

1 Answer

If dolphin turns on its side against wall , will not flip back upright. Continues on its side and won't move

Works OK on bottom of pool... not great on slopes but in side walls it will not flip back over and gets stuck in that one position. When putting in water... I have to make sure I push it down flat or it will stay on its side.

I am unsure of your question. Are you referring to an actual Dolphin or some sort of Toy?

Your Dolphin pool cleaner wont start up...

A common problem, especially with 'newer' Maytronics Dolphin brand pool cleaners is that you put the unit in the pool, or even try to turn it on after a cleaning cycle while it is still in the pool, and to that point it has worked fine. You turn the power supply on and nothing happens. You turn it off and back on and still nothing. You leave it, even over night, same thing. What do you do?

While I cannot tell you why it does this (we have a theory but can not confirm it) what usually works is to follow these steps...

1) Unplug everything. Unplug the power supply from the outlet and the Dolphin from the power supply.

2) Let the whole thing sit a couple of minutes (we want to allow any capacitors to discharge).

3) Be sure the Dolphin is out of the water and sitting upside-down on a level surface (Tracks pointing skyward).

4) Reconnect the Dolphin to the power supply and the power supply to the outlet.

5) With the Dolphin still out of the water, perform a self-test. Simply turn on the Dolphin. Within about 15 seconds it should begin to move. The tracks will spin in both directions with and without the impeller motor running at the same time. It is not unusual for the tracks to rotate at different speeds during this test. The test will last for 30 - 45 seconds or so. If it goes on indefinitely, turn it off and contact us for further direction.

6) Assuming the unit has now worked to this point, you should be able to put it back in the water and it will return to normal operation from this point on.

If it still won't run; it runs a few moments and quits the self-test; or runs continuously, contact us thru the Dolphin service form along the bottom of our home page at

I love my Dolphin Dynamic 342348BU47 I have had her for two years, her name is Daisy. One side of her track will not run. I turn her on she moves forward 6 inches then back 6 inches then stops. I have...

Check inside the side plate on the side that won't move for debris such as goggles or swim toys. If nothing is jamming the track the motor might be bad or the wheel tubes that connect the tracks together could be damaged so check those as well.

The control board inside the motor pack is failing as the sensor for the units orientation is included on that board. The only way to fix it is a new motor pack. For additional information on repair parts or sending it in for service please contact Maytronics at or us thru

It is most likely an issue in the motor pack with the board. Parts are not sold for the motor pack; only new motor packs. If you are still looking to do something with the unit please contact us thru for possible solutions, parts pricing or directions on sending it in for inspection/service.

Dolphin Interactive pool cleaner stops running

If the dolphin is falling backward when it meets the water line, there is an easy fix. The automatic pool cleaners often have this problem. The easiest solution is to remove the handle floats and attach an 8 oz weight to the bottom inlet cover.

Hayward Navigator gets stuck at wall

I have had the same Navigator for many, many years. I have replaced it's guts, pods, feet and gears whenever things wear out. I have a vinyl pool and it works great. I had a problem with it charging into the wall and just sit there beating it's feet ..... now this was my solution, and I'm surprised that Navigator has not altered the design to deal with getting stuck against a wall. This will sound CRAZY but it works great!! Take a plastic lid for a 5 gallon bucket and cut out a round-nose for the front of your navigator. The curved shape is prefect and you can notch the plastic lid and it will snug right into the Navigator body. This gives your Navigator a round-nose and it will never get stuck against a wall again.
