You can't recover the password. However you can contact the manufacturer and sometimes they will have a master password you can use.

Or you will need to reset the bios, which can be done a few different ways depending on the machine you have.

I have a HP G6000 lap top & need a bios password / reset?

google for remove bios paswoord
Resetting the BIOS Password using Software Every system must store the BIOS password information somewhere. If you are able to access the machine after it has been booted successfully, you may be able to view the BIOS password. You must know the memory address where the BIOS password is stored, and the format in which the BIOS password is stored. Or, you must have a program that knows these things.
You can write your own program to read the BIOS password from the CMOS memory on a PC by writing the address of the byte of CMOS memory that you wish to read in port 0x370, and then reading the contents of port 0x371.
!BIOS will recover the BIOS password for most common BIOS versions, including IBM, American Megatrends Inc, Award and Phoenix.
CmosPwd will recover the BIOS password for the following BIOS versions:
  • ACER/IBM BIOS
  • AMI BIOS
  • AMI WinBIOS 2.5
  • Award 4.5x/4.6x/6.0
  • Compaq (1992)
  • Compaq (New version)
  • IBM (PS/2, Activa, Thinkpad)
  • Packard Bell
  • Phoenix 1.00.09.AC0 (1994), a486 1.03, 1.04, 1.10 A03, 4.05 rev 1.02.943, 4.06 rev 1.13.1107
  • Phoenix 4 release 6 (User)
  • Gateway Solo - Phoenix 4.0 release 6
  • Toshiba
  • Zenith AMI

Power on password

The only way to recover from a power-on password is to use the reset jumper on your motherboard. If you have the motherboard manual it should tell you where the reset jumper is, or post what motherboard you have here and we can help you out. The one thing you'll want to be careful of though is that doing this will reset all of your bios back to it's default settings, so if you had to do anything in your bios to get your computer to work correctly, you'll have to do it all over again.

If its a CMOS password , you can take the keyboard off ur laptop and there should be a reset switch to clear the CMOS

If its a windows password , theres loads of free utiliies that recover or change the forgotten pasword. you just download them then boot of a cd to run them

Aspire 3610 Bios Password???

The motherboard manufacturers are Phenoix, as it says on bootup. I'm not sure if you can recover the BIOS password by simple keystrokes/buffer overflows anymore, although I heard that some motherboards still have the password running in volatile memory, meaning that if you remove the battery it could reset the password (along with any custom settings and the clock).

It sounds as if this is a BIOS password request.

Has anyone been changing setting in the BIOS recently?

Occasionally, static or electrical interference can cause a BIOS password to reset to it's default.

Bypassing the BIOS password is not easy, but is possible. First of all, I would suggest you try some of the common manufacturers default passowrda. You can find lists here and here.

Failing that, there are software programs available to recover/reset lost BIOS password or you can manually reset the BIOS. Details of how you do this are here and here.

If you are not 100% sure what you are doing, I would not advise you to reset your BIOS. There are setting in here that you will need to set in order for your computer to work properly. Wrong values could prevent it from working at all, or could even cause permanent damage.

Google for 'reset bios password' - You'll find lots more information...

Hope this helps,

Matt
