Hi, Check main power board for bad Caps. Replace caps with same rated or better caps.(Capacitors). Look for bulged or leaking caps. Good luck

RCA L40FHD41YX9: power LED and sound, but no picture.

Fault at its main digital board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts.

In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.
Before going further; try a hard reset first. If it does not help you, replace the main digital board. There are two methods to reset TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory ResetF (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight is better. This procedure will make it a hard reset. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; visit the site linked here.

My tv works OK except after switching on it takes 30 minutes before a picture arrives e.g. the green light flashes for 30 minutes before the picture comes on. Sometimes when the picture does arrive there...

There are two most common causes of this problem, and it's accross the board for all types of TVs: faulty electrolytic capacitors in the power board or BGA processor solder failure on the main board.

Of course there are other possibilities too, but those are the two most common ones in the order they occur.

What I'd do if I were you is to open and take a look at the power board for bulging capacitors.

Sometimes they're not on the power board - especially in small TVs like yours - but on the main board, so check there as well.

I'd be surprised if it's something else.

For a picture of bulged caps just google "bad electrolytic capacitor" or "bulged capacitor".

There are pictures in some of our blog articles too, but Internet certainly offers better ones.

Hope that helps.

Pwr lite is blinking and nothing happens when pwr button is pushed on m#lc19sb14u

I had a similar problem with my 42 in Philips LCD HDTV.

Here was the problem. My Power Supply Board had several bad capacitors. I opened my TV (warranty was expired of course) and found four bulged capacitors on the PSB. Many major electronics companies Philips/Magnavox, Sony, Panasonic, and others were sold capacitors that failed in 2-5 years instead of 10-20. The capacitors fail prematurely due to a lack of preservatives. Unfortunately, they were installed in all sorts of devices and cause a wide range of failure problems.

Here are some options for you.

1. Have it fixed by a professional $$$$$$$??????? (Is it under warranty?)

2. Open your TV and find PSB. (The board that the power cord plugs into) Check for faulty caps. If you find some (bulged or leaking) bad caps replace the entire board. The entire board costs around $250 right now because they are in high demand right now. They can be found at tv-part.com but supplies are limited. I would definitely shop around though.

3. Remove and then replace individual faulty caps. This takes some soldering skill.

Caps are inexpensive and if you can take care of it yourself it will save you hundreds.

This may be your problem. If you determine that it might be.

I have a Tip/How TO tutorial on this site that may also help. It gives step by step instructions for replacing caps on PSB #715t2432-2. If this is your board you are in luck. Here is the Link: Fixing the Philips Turns/shuts off on its own problem. I'm working on uploading pictures to help guide people though the process as well. Let me know if I can do anything to help.

Hope this helps and if it does please rate it accordingly. Good luck.

When I turn on the TV with the remote first thing in the morning I get sound but no picture. I leave the TV on with the sound on for 30 minutes and than begin to turn it off and on till I get a picture...

does the screen look lit at all? you may have an issue with the sustainer boards (Y and Z). without taking voltage readings at the power supply board it will be hard to tell. if you check, there may be bulging capasitors on the power supply board. if so, that will need to be replaced. you can contact hdrepair for a diagnosis and repair.

You need to open it up nad inspect the caps, look for caps with bulging top or seal, post back what you find so we can guide you further, see example of failed monitors due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

Faded pictures it is caused by leaky or short capacitor it could also be power supply problem causing the optic engine and light not to work correctly, or you could have a bad DM board, or a bad light engine sounds like a bad DM board find six of the fourteen known-problem caps to be visibly bulging -- both 3300s and two of the four 1000s on the PWR PWB plus two of the four 1000s on the FMT PWB (see photos below). Ironically of the four 1000s on the DM PWB, which I have heard are the most common to go bad, were bulging and I considered skipping these as the DM it is the toughest board to extricate from the chassis, however I figured I had come this far and I would just as soon replace all twelve 1000 uFs as the parts cost $0.23 and I really never want to have to do this again.

If I had to bet, the two 10V 3300uF caps on POWER board, which were actually leaking black goo, are the actual culprits, but with four of the 1000 uFs also bulging it is probable only a matter of time until they failed as well.

Here is the POWER PWB with the known-problem caps (C9A37, C9A38, C9A51, C9A52, C9A61 and C9A62) highlighted:

here's the FMT PWB with the known-problem caps (C8F19, C8F21, C8F22 and C8F27) highlighted:
