I have some devices just like that! For instance, I have a new pillow that does not make any sound either! Do you think there is a fix for both devices?

Without getting into a vbak and forth with you about all the details of your PC, you should use a search engine to find high-level advice on how to get your sound device going (sound card). Until THAT happens speakers will not work.

I have compaq cq40144tu. Whenever i connect reliance net connect device to my laptop, the sound automatically gets turnedoff.

Looks like your Net connection device is conflicting with your laptop's sound device. Sometimes this is solved by plugging the Net connection device to a different USB port, or getting your laptop's sound driver software updated.

Sound Device in windows "XP".
Sound Device is located in the Components category in System Information. It contains information about the sound devices on your system, including the name, manufacturer, and status of the sound device and driver details.
When you are troubleshooting problems with a sound device, verify that the hardware is properly connected and that the sound control is set correctly. You can also use Device Manager to verify that the sound device driver is signed. For more information about Device Manager, see Device manager

No Sound Device

Check your BIOS settings in the setup and make sure that the sound card isn't disabled.

If it is enabled and you are not getting any sound, you may have to get a PCI audio card to replace the mobo audio.

No sound driver found

Usually if its onboard sound or a sound card that came stock with your system Windows Update should be able to find it; go into device manager and uninstall your sound device…then reboot and allow Windows to find your sound device then allow Windows to search Windows Update for the driver (this might take a minute).
