Putting on another spool, do I thread the line through the hole in the side?

I feel that the END of your trimmer line should exit THROUGH the hole in the side. That hole should have a small metal grommet to alleviate wear on the plastic head unit as the string flies.
So string your line onto the spool and when you are done, run the END of the line through the hole in the side.

I cannot remove the string spool on the trimmer. When putting force in an attempt to turn the knob, the knob turns, but does not loosen. It feels like it is slipping.

If you are attempting to remove the whole string spool, including the spool holder, you will most likely need to insert a pin (screwdriver, punch, large nail, etc.) in the slot between the spool holder and the power head of the trimmer. That will keep the drive mechanism from turning as you unscrew the spool holder.

I need to know how to restring my Twist & Edge RTE weedeater. I've looked everywhere & can't find an answer that makes sense. PLEASE Help.

I found this solution on the net. I hope it helps.

Unscrew cap and remove. Remove line guide ring. Note which way to put line guide ring back on, slot to outer edge. Remove the empty spool.

Don't take spool apart unless you need to get inside to remove string. The outer half should be yellow. Cut 25 ft. of .065 line. Start pushing the line inside the spool from the center making sure the string is winding inside in a counter clock direction which should be shown on the spool. Keep pushing until there is about only 6 in. left.

Replace spool. Then the line guide ring, making sure to pull the string through the middle of it. Then hold the string on the slot in the ring while replacing the cap.

Black&decker GH 1000 trimmer. The line breaks when spool is full

Try using a thicker line when using the thinner line it is good only for grass if you should hit fence or concrete it will eat it up and you will be pulling it out every 5 minites or less.

Refill line on spool of toro electric model 910

Onve you remove the cover the spool should pull straight out. Be careful, there's a spring under the spool that can fly out and get lost. You need that spring to re-assemble.

String is stuck inside reel and I need to remove reel to feed string out again.

Hi, W/D here.

The string tends to get caught in itself, despite our best winding efforts. Pull the spool straight off, and try to get some fingers on the spools as it comes off, in case one of the spools if free, so the line doesn't fly off.
Usually a kinked piece can just be pulled at an angle to free it up.

Best regards, --W/D--

How to remove old string reel from ryobi 105r

After you line up the two triangles, push in and lift. Only the top piece will come off, then the spool is inside. I kept trying to lift the whole head and then the top popped off and I realized what I was doing wrong. It is actually quite easy once you figure out the correct way and where to pull.

How do you wind replacement line to the Poulan Pro String Trimmer?

If it is a duel line trimmer then:

Cut two separate pieces of string, about 7 ft. each.

Stick the end of the line in the hole on the inside of spool.

Wind clockwise onto spool, putting the line that is closest to the ground on first.

Once you have winded this piece on, lock the last 4 inches of line through the slits on spool.

Repeat process for second piece of line, locking the last 4 inches in slot opposite the other locked in piece.

Put the spool on the trimmer, feeding the end of lines through either hole on trimmer.

Before you push the spool all the way on, pull the strings out of the locked position.

If it is a single line trimmer, just wind a single piece of string clockwise onto spool.

Threading line on black & decker GL301 strimmer

Do you mean that the string keeps feeding as you try to operate the trimmer?

If so, you are winding the string on the spool the wrong way. Put the string on the spool in a clockwise direction. This should do it.
