Question about Sewing Machines

Open Question

I have a Whirlpool duet steam dryer model #WED975OWWO. The dryer belt needs to be replaced. Its a front loader with a glass door and the control panels on the top are three separate panels.

All the videos I've found when I type in the model # are not the same machine

My riccar - model #808 - needs gears. is it possible to have these sent to me?

Yes. However, you wrote "gears" as plural. There is only one gear in that machine; the hook gear. The hook gear is inexpensive and easy to replace and retiming the hook is easy as well. There is another potential problem; the timing belt cogs. They are plastic and, over time, they split, causing the timing belt to jump off time constantly. The replacement kit (2 cogs, belt and idler pulley) is available but is extremely labor intensive and requires a high level of aptitude for mechanical repair.
If you need a hook gear, they are under $10 and can be shipped right to your door. 805-540-9294

Loading a sewing macheine

There are two threads you're asking about, or could possibly be asking about. The first is the top thread. There is a diagram across the top of the machine with numbers(1, 2, 3, etc) detailing where to put the thread and how.

Your bottom thread, otherwise known as your Bobbin, will have the same diagrams, depending on whether it is a top loader, or a front loader. If it is a top loader, simply remove the bobbin door, and drop in the bobbin, making sure the thread is facing the direction the diagram tells you it should be facing. For a front loader, the diagram will also ensure you know what you're doing, often with a bobbin case involved.

I need a replacement manual for Babylock Xscape BL66

You will need to contact a BL dealer to order a manual, if any are available. This model has been replaced.

There is a threading guide in on the inside of the door on the front of the serger.

Raise the presser foot and set the tension controls to zero.

Turn the handwheel until the upper looper (curved looper) is at it's highest point - there may be a mark on the side of the serger and handwheel for aligning to this point.

Thread the upper looper first, then the lower looper, then the needles.

Pull the threads under the presser foot and to the left side of the serger.

Set the tensions back to 4 - 6 setting, lower the presser foot and stitch a chain before serging fabric.

You may be able to find a free manual download at the Brother website for a similar product.

I would like to clean in between the windows on the dooes of the oven. We have a kitchen aid superba double oven

You will have to dissassemble the door to clean between the glass. You may need to replace the gasket material when you do. It can be done but care will need to be taken during dissassembly, marking parts, so that during reassembly the unit will function correctly and not leak heat or cause the tempered glass to break. Good luck. I hope this is helpful.

Threads jammed in bobbin race

Giving your make and model is always a good idea, saves time and more.Depending on the style of machine, front loader will have clips to undo the collar around the Hook, just take note as it comes apart how it will need to go back together....tilt the machine slightly backwards to stop it all falling out immediately (!!!)
Top loader will require the needleplate to be removed to get at the bobbin case.
You do not want to go trying to take the hook race apart unless you know exactly what you are calling what and know how to do it.

Feed dogs

There is a switch somewhere below and on the freearm....depending on the model, it may be front, rear

(or inside the front door if a front loading bobbin machine)

.........flick the switch left or right to raise/lower,

(up or down if front loader)

.......just remember the handwheel needs to rotate one full revolution to re-engage raised feeddogs after being dropped.

If you still have trouble, post back with details of the model......

NOTE: some lesser models do have a legacy moulding where the switch would be, but do not have the actual function.

Starts good, loses steam

Your machine either needs a new motor or belt. How long has it been since you have taken it in for servicing? Sergers are work horses. They get better as they age, so take it in for servicing.
