Have you tried resetting unit to the factory default? To get to this, press the snake button, then settings, then user settings. On the last page you will see reset to factory defaults. This will erase all info on the device as if it were new.

If you have a sd card reader on your computer you can plug the card to your computer and delete your personal files from there same as in windows - using the computer. be carefull not to erase maps or important files.
Every gps is a little diffrent Il look into that visited places.

Page 60 of the manual says
In Device chose delete saved information
there tap delete recent locations and read the warning
than tap delete.
