What is debit?

Debit is money you have. Credit is money you owe.

A DEBIT card takes money instantly from your bank account. A CREDIT card puts a charge on your bill and you are sent a statement at the end of the billing peroid.

Debra contact your bank that provides that card and tell them you did not authorise the charge and want it investigated. Could be fraudulent use of your card had it happen to me on a debit card and I complained to the bank.

Apply for a debit card from N.Z

Just call your bank and let them know you will be in the UK so they don't flag your card as stolen. You can use normal debit cards in most places including ATM's, however they will usually charge a few dollars to withdraw.

What's the difference between a credit card and a debit card?

Credit cards work on "credit"
meaning that the card company trusts that you are good for the money and you
pay a bill at the end of the month. Debt
cards are similar to credit cards in the way that you can pay for things
without cash. However, when a charge
goes through on a debit card it is taken immediately and directly out of your
bank account. Many people prefer this
method because it prevents you from going into credit card debt.

Purchased PC Ulta Speed through Pay Pal . You paid for it twice. Two amounts of $39.92 taken out of my bank a/c as per statement i have just received? from Bank of Qld Beaudesert

If you are wondering why you have two charges on your bank account statement one possible reason is the other is only for pre authorization. What is a Pre-Authorization?: A pre-authorization is a temporary hold of a specific amount of the available balance on a credit / debit card. The pre-authorization is NOT a charge and you are not responsible for paying for it.

It is one way of verifying the legitimacy of the transaction especially if its done online.
When does the Pre-Authorization Get Released from the Credit / Debit Card This depends on your individual credit / debit card. Upon your checkout of the motel, your actual room charge will get posted to your credit / debit card. Once our actual charge is posted it can take anywhere from 24 hours to up to 3 weeks for the pre-authorization to be removed by your company.

I HAVE A DEBIT CARD, WILL IT CHARGE ME IF I GO ON EPPICARD.COM

No. The whole point of the EPIC card system is to put "cash" (money from government, such as Employment Insurance payments) onto a debit card, so that you can use your debit card to make purchases. The alternative would be for the government to issue a cheque to you, and then you would have to cash the cheque, to get cash, and then use the cash to purchase things.
