SOURCE: Oven flame too high.

Take a 1/2 inch open end wrench and tighten the orifice on the oven gas valve. Then adjust the air shutter on the venturi tube.

SOURCE: The oval burner has only very low flame, even when set on high

Every one of these ranges that I have seen with the oval style burner on them have a smaller flame then the normal round burners. And there is very little difference between the low and high settings. It sounds like what you are experiencing is normal. What the GE repairman was adjusting is called the "simmer stop". There is a small flat head screw inside the burner stem. By turning this screw you can adjust the size of the burner on the low position of the burner knob. This should be adjusted to where the burner still stays on when the knob is at the lowest setting. I do not think that you need the burner repaired. From my experience they are all like that.

What is the best shape for a dutch oven?

The best kind of Dutch oven to invest in is one that is round and wide. It should have sides that are more straight than sloped. This is in order to have a lot of room for searing/browning. The oven should be 4 " deep.
Oval dutch ovens will cause the food at the ends of the oval to cook unevenly when searing. An oval oven is good for pot roasts and whole poultry.

While grilling we had a flare up that quickly turned into thick black smoke rolling from our gas grill. we shut off the grill and got the flames out. what could have caused this? is it safe to try and...

If you have a grill that is several years old, some of your burners may be rusted and deteriorating, causing these large, out-of-control flames. It's definitely not safe to us in this condition. Remove the cooking grids and all parts above the burners and examine each burner with a flash light. It's also possible the seams have split which may be harder to tell that it's defective. If you can remove each individual burner to inspect it, do it and and make sure there are no restrictions inside the burner, like bug nests, debris, etc that could clog it and force gas out the venturi tube at the orifice. If you had moved or transported the grill recently before using it this last time, it may have jostled something loose or caused the rusted burners to fall apart so quickly. Hope this helps. Let me know if you need more assistance. Douglas

My burners don't put out out much of a flame. Model CGBD48RSBX. Ten years old. Can I clean them?

That depends, Are the burners stainless steel or cast iron? The cast iron burners are heavy duty and can usually be cleaned, but the stainless kind may just fall apart after a few years of usage. It just may have clogged burner holes from rust and drippings that can simply be wire brushed. I'd use an air compressor to blow out debris from inside the burner as well.

I have a Empire Corcho radiant nature gas space heater that the middle brick panel flairs when on. When the other two bricks light they burn normal (ie no flair or flames except slight flame as bricks heat...

Problem sounds like the incoming gas pressure is too high or the burner below the middle brick has debris or trash clogging some of the openings. Recommended next step is to remove all power / natural gas to the space heater and check all burners for debris or blockage. If burners are clear have your natural gas provider test the incoming gas pressure to ensure it is correct for that appliance.

Where is the heat sensor on a goodman furnace

Heat sensor....Or a flame sensor. Flame sensor is connected to a "single" wire under the buners usually found on the left side. Heat sensors (or flame rollout switches) are found surrounding the burner box. The most common bad one will be located just above the burners. it "should" have a small reset button in the middle just between the two wires. If the furnace does light even for a short time the rollout switch is not bad.

Gf 40 frymaster fryer

Hi, I am suposing that this fryer has worked good in this location before. If not, check to make sure it is set up right for your gas supply. (LP-Nat) There is something wrong with the gas - air flow in your unit. Look for obvious things first like exhaust being blocked, Flame dancing out side of fire area, Pilot too small, Build up of debris in fire box. The pilot should be able to be adjusted at the gas valve if it is too small. I believe you problem could be taken care of best with a good cleaning of the burner, fire box and pilot assemble. Make sure that all burner holes are clean especially around the pilot light. Check for oily debris inside the fire box to make sure its not leaking into the fire area. If you are unable to do this yourself, contact some one either in the restaurant equipment service business or heating and air conditioning business. Hope I have helped you. kstfas NOTE: If this answer does not rate at least 4 marks, (almost there) please do not rate. Thank You.
