How low is to low with my blood pressure?

Mayo clinic says: Most doctors consider chronically low blood pressure too low only if it causes noticeable symptoms. (Such as dizziness, especially when first standing up). Some experts define low blood pressure as readings lower than 90 mm Hg systolic or 60 mm Hg diastolic - you need to have only one number in the low range for your blood pressure to be considered lower than normal. I hope this helps!

MY BLOOD PRESSURE IS 145/90. I am 71. i AM OTHERWISE HEALTHY. SHOULD I WORRY ABOUT THIS

Rena: Normal blood pressure is a reading below 120/80. Your bottom number is a little too high. Here is where to start: decrease salt in your diet. Try to decrease stress (like taking a stress management class). Increase your daily exercise. Herbs that may help lower blood pressure include basil, cinnamin, flaxseed, garlic, ginger, hawthorn, celery seed, French lavendar, and cat's claw (but NOT the real cat!) :) Take your blood pressure at different times of the day and keep a record. Uncontrolld high blood pressure can lead to stroke by damaging and weakening your brain's blood vessels, causing them to narrow, rupture or leak. High blood pressure can also cause blood clots to form in the arteries leading to your brain, blocking blood flow and potentially causing a stroke. I used to work in a dialysis clinic and there were always plenty of men that did not control their blood pressure for many years and eventually wore out their kidneys. If you consistently stay above the recommended numbers, go see your doctor.

What to eat to raise blood pressure

nothing to eat unless you want to clog up the heart but dehydration or lack of regular water intake affects blood pressure
talk with a doctor as you need to fully understand "blood pressure" and what it means in the body
Low blood pressure readings are normal and it is the high pressure readings that are dangerous
Again talk with a doctor to be correctly informed and what your particular blood pressure readings should be

I'm a male of 66 years my blood pressure is 120/55 is that too low

It is foolish for a non-medical person who has not seen you to advise you. Best to see a doctor, but can also check this link: http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/low-blood-pressure/basics/causes/con-20032298 or Google "low diastolic pressure" for more info.

I am 79 years old and have a iron blood level at 11. Am told the norm is 400. Im trying to understand. This being investigated.

Your iron level in blood is what carries the oxygen to your brain, if the blood level is low 10 is low you may have lack of energy and feel tired.
it depends what your normal level has been all along, everyone has a different level that's how they get the averages. If yours is dropped radically then that's why they're doing the investigation.
You can add iron to your diet by eating leafy green vegetables as well as possibly trying a multivitamin that has an iron component to it or there are iron tablets that you can take over the counter but you have to be very careful because they cause severe constipation. And usually with the constipation the cure is worse than the disease.
When you don't understand what the doctor tells you it's important for you to tell him that so that he can put it in language that you do understand.
Good luck stay well

Does high blood pressures med.cause you to have memory problems? And is there a way to get back off high blood pressure meds.?

As you know from watching television, all medications have many potential side effects. However, having said that, as a working RN for 25 years, I have never heard of blood pressure meds causing memory problems. If anything, it is the other way around: high blood pressure may cause decreased circulation to the brain and therefore possibly cause some memory loss. The thing about blood pressure meds is this: they are very very important! If you allow high blood pressure to go untreated, you can damage your eyes and your kidneys, both which have tons of small blood vessels. You can also wind up having a stroke. Generally, it is unsafe to get off blood pressure medications on your own.
