I have a Sharp EC-TU4607 vacuum with a handle wont stay in locked position. Pressing on the release lever at the base doesn't seem to trigger anything so I'm not sure if a part broke off.

SOURCE: Dirt Devil vacuum Release pedal not working

take off the bottom like you are replacing the belt. You will find a little metal clip that controls the upright lock.  It may be lose or broken.

SOURCE: Brush won't spin when position of handle changes

The belt for this machine is very specific and only one size fits. It is not uncommon for vac shops to sell the wrong belt because the proper belt is not available from normal supply houses, so they will substitute something they think will work.

Also, assuming you do have the right belt, check the tension arm that drops down on the v-belt when the handle is brought back. This arm has a wheel/bearing with a plastic "tire" or trim that rolls on the belt to tighten it. Sometimes, this tire cracks and falls off and then the remaining bearing won't have the necessary tension to tighten up the belt.

SOURCE: vax carpet shampooer wont release shampoo

if you unscrew a bit on the base that allows you to take off the brush, you will see a black plastic strip with very small holes in it. These are where your shampoo comes out of. Take a needle and re-pierce these holes and it should work again. I have just sorted mine out. good luck .

Vacuum won't stay in the upright position

I believe you have a broken handle release pedal. It make look intact, but if you turn it over and look where the lever is fastened to the body, it should protrude out another inch to an inch and a half. If you don't see this, then the plastic "spring" part of the lever has broken off; this is what forces the lever to stay up. the part for the Helix should be # 203-2463 and should be under $10.

Self leveling platform will not lower.

Hi There,

This is probably being caused by the two little feet on the bottom of the agitator housing. I have yet to completely understand what the purpose of these two feet are, but what happens is that over time the screws that secure them in place begin to loosen, which allows these two little feet to become lodged between the agitator housing (the part the brush is actually in) and the vacuum bag housing (upright part) preventing the agitator housing from releasing when stepping on the foot pedal.

Here's a picture of these two little feet from the parts schematic. You may either tighten the screws, or just remove these two feet entirely from the vacuum cleaner, Other then helping stabalize the vacuum while in the upright position, these don't really seem to much else.

Here's the picutre of the two feet which are circled in red.

If you inspect these feet and they are not loose, then you may have an issue with the handle release pedal itself. Please just add a comment if this did not fix it, and I will be happy to walk you through step by step on how to fix the handle release.

I really hoped that this helped you fix the machine. If you found my repair helpful, please be so kind and rate the repair, or leave feedback for me. This is greatly appreciated by the Fixya community.

Thanks again,

How do i empty my dyson dc07

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

Remove the bin and cyclone assembyl by pressing the release button above the word Dyson on the carrying handle towards the machine.

Then hold the bin and cyclone assembly over a dustbin and pull the trigger located underneath the carrying handle which will release the bin base to empty the dust and debris from the bin.

I hope this information is useful to you and should you need any further help or advice, please contact our Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK) or 1866MYDYSON (US).

Trigger on hose attachment not working so water sprays constantly

from your description, the trigger sounds like it is stuck in the release position. this sounds like a very simple repair. The component parts need to be looked at by a service shop

Upright lock broken

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
Not knowing the brand name and the model # it sounds to me that you have a broken handle release if that is what you are referring to as “Upright Lock Broken” – the handle release lever keeps the hand staying up and in the upright position. So include @ least the brand name and or the model # and I can try to further assist you. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.
