Any one know where a chuck for Hitachi Power Tools Ds14dvf3 can be purchased, it is a discontinued item, and no parts seem to be around? OR is there a universal chuck that could be used in this drill?

I'm hoping you mean a chuck "key" .... there are only 4 different sizes and can be bought in tool stores as universal chuck keys tool 4 in 1 tool...

Testimonial: "Hey, thx for fast response, I am challenged with tools, so not sure, the jaw on my drill will not close on bit, was told here I needed new chuck, and looked at known part places, with no luck, so I came here again. It is the portion of the drill that closes around a bit, there are two pieces with a screw in the middle, and will not grab anything, would I be looking for a key? Or is it something else? Thx"

hello I just looked your drill online hitachi power tool website. your drill has a keyless chuck... meaning no tool needed just use hand to snug up so if yours is not closing up all the way maybe there is dirt, rust or what ever stopping it from closing all the way I would try open chuck all the way spraying the inside with wd40 work chuck close open a few times to see if this frees it up... how the chuck is replaceable it is a 3/8" keyless you can buy new ones but for the cost you could buy a newer/better one for far lees money. let me know if you need any more info I know a few place where you can get this fixed if needed... A lot of the compressors I have had were discontinued before I ever received them. I know what ordering the right part can be like. If you can give me a description of what the part does or where it is located I will brain storm with you to find a work around. If you leave a comment it will email me.

An alternative to buying a new battery would be to have your old batteries rebuild. You can bring them to your nearest Interstate all Battery Center and they can fix it for you.

I thought the batteries were dead but the truck seems to have died - the batteries are fine - any ideas?

Hi Charlie :) Couple of questions;
1. How old is your son
2. Is Charlie allowed to get wet (check warnings on box or manual)
3. Did you buy it new from an authorized reseller?

I could not find warranty information on Chuck specifically but Tonka in general has a lifetime warranty. According to amazon.com, it has been discontinued. But all is not lost - Chuck is licensed to the following company who is recommended by Hasbro to contact regarding Chuck products (Chuck not working, etc.). See if contacting them will get you some results.

The motorized Tonka items are licensed to the following company. They manufacture, distribute and support the products. Please contact them for further information:

I have a hitachi dv18dl and the chuck is broken i just need to no what type of screw is in the chuck so i can remove it? thanks

THE CHUCK SCREW IS EITHER A TORX BIT, POSSIBLE 20 TORX OR ITS A PHILIPS OR SLOTTED SCREW, REMEMBER THE SCREW IS LEFT HAND THREAD AND ALLOT OF THE TIMES IS LOCTITED IN SO IT DOESN'T UNSCREW WHEN THE ITEM IN THE CHUCK SLIPS AND RUBS ON THE TOP OF IT. IT SHOULD REMOVE FAIRLY EASY!! MAKE SURE WHEN REMOVING THE CHUCK THE TOOL IS IN LOW GEAR/ DRILL MODE OR YOU WILL FIGHT IT FOREVER AND POSSIBLY DOEING DAMAGE TO THE CLUTCH/TRANNY ASSY. THE CHUCK WILL UNSCREW STANDARD THREAD, SHOULD BE A 2 MINUTE PROSSES TO REMOVE THE CHUCK UNLESS ITS ON REALLY HARD. JIMS TOOL SERVICE

I purchased this drill almost 2 years ago and had trouble with the chuck 2 weeks after i got it online from hitachi, I sent it back they replaced the chuck. now again it is stuck wide open. I am very...

Hello Blreid, to get the chuck off, you will need to be able to close the chuck. If this means using 2 plumber's wrenches, then so be it. Follow the directions below, and let me know if it works.

Remove the REVERSE-THREAD screw at the bottom of the chuck. Set the clutch collar to the highest setting, and set the gear to the slowest setting. Remove the battery! Get the biggest allen wrench you can fit in the end of the chuck(the shortest leg) and tighten the chuck down around it, allowing the jaws to rest and tighten on the flats of the wrench. Lay the drill on its side(chuck toward you, handle to the left, and allen wrench to the left, horizontal to the deck. Then with a hammer(soft hammer if you care about the allen wrench) quickly and deliberately hit the allen wrench in an attempt to cause the allen wrench to spin counter clockwise. Let me know if this works for you, and if not, explain what is happening.

Plastic casing snapped across the handle and need to get a replacement casing and where can i get one from

You can get one on line at www.ereplacementparts.com for $30 + shipping. The Hitachi part number is 324-482; you may want to put "Hitachi 324-482" in your search engine and see if you can find it cheaper elsewhere.

Chuck on my drill is stuck open and I cannot close it to put in a new bit

If the chuck is stuck open and you cant "muscle" it closed something is probably jammed up in there and it needs to be replaced. Chucks take a good share of the abuse on power tools and most manufactuers consider them a "common wear item" like brake pads or Tires on your car. A chuck is fairly simple to replace if your drill stuck open and they are commonly replaced on the higher end "Industrial Grade" Power Tools like DeWalt and Milwaukee.
Looking at the Make and Model of your drill it would probably be easiest and most cost effective to just replace the entire drill. If you tried to replace the chuck and found a chuck that will fit your tool it may cost you anywhere from $25 - $40. For Around $40 you can purchase a new drill with a fresh battery.

Hitachi cordless drill, removing chuck

Replacing the chuck on a drill is simple when you know the trick. I worked at a tool rental center while attending college and learned how to repair many tools. Open the chuck enough to remove the screw that you will see inside the chuck. It will most likely be reverse thread. The chuck is threaded on the shaft so just simply close the chuck on an allen socket and impact off with air or electric impact tool. If you do not have an impact tool close the chuck on-to the largest allen wrench that will fit into the chuck.(with the long part of the allen wrench projecting out) You will need to set the drill into a vise or strap to work-bench, then strike allen with hammer. Most chucks are removed with one quick impact of the hammer, counter clockwise. Do not squeese the drill too tightly with vise, we used a piece of leather to protect the drill. Good luck. Enjoy
