SOURCE: washer goes into unbalance mode

Check the springs and spring mounts,(might be broken or not on right), also could be something wrong with the balance switch (where the tub hits the switch). It could be mis aligned or defective. Check the springs first.

SOURCE: Cold water Washes

It is normal for the machine to cycle between hot and cold water when filling even if selecting a cold cycle. The reason for this is because even a cold cycle requires the water temperature to be 78F for the soap to break up efficiently.

During the cold months the water in your pipes is probably less than 78F so the machine will need to add some hot water to bring it up to this temperature. Basically, it is adding cold and then hot water to maintain a temperature in the tub of 78F for cold water cycles.

Hope this helps, please rate my solution.

You are absolutely right, whoever told you otherwise is full of ____!! The wash water has to completely drain out and if it isn't there may be an obstruction of some kind in the pump if this is happening all the time. It could be a child's sock, or a bra wire, something like that. Have someone reputable check it out for you.

Yes, the washer senses the load and draws the proper amount of water to wash the load.

Hi!!
The "Metallic banging/clicking" sound you hear is the Shifter mechanism engaging or disengaging.
The drive system will engage at the start of the Agitate Cycle and disengage when the Agitate Cycle is complete. This occurs multiple times during the wash. GE claims this is a normal sound and should not be concerned about it. Good Luck!! A HELPFUL - 4 THUMBS - rating for this solution would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for using FixYa.

Terrible smell in front loading LG washer

Hi,

Try a small amount of soda crystals put it in the soap draw about half the amount you would normally use of regular soap powder and put it on the hottest wash it will break down any gunk or loose limescale which could be causing the smell.

Thank you

My washer is really loud and is bouncing around the kitchen we have just put new brushes in it as it stopped spinning but thats sorted now its got a mind of its own

Hiya,
Jumping washing machines are often caused by the simple things such as incorrect loading, when you purchased your machine it would have given you a load capacaty, for this machine i think it is quit large but it does have the options of extra settings 1 of which is a half load setting i would surgest you try a half load setting on 1 wash & see if this helps the idea behind this is that if your machine jumps even more than normal then you may be over filling it & if it reduces the amount of jumping then maybe you was under filling it, if the jumping remians the same then we can start to rule out reasons for the jumping.. that would be your starting point to resolve this problem.

Hope this helps

Is there any way to make white clothes less dingy when using an H.E. washer such as the Kenmore Elite? I've tried cleaning the washer once a month, using a little OxiClean with the detergent, using bleach...

Try nappysan. As you have found out bleach is no good. In the "day" we used to use a "Bluing" Agent, see if you can get those, My solution is to use just a dot or 2 of Dawn dish washing liquid on any spots I thought would stain-scrub them for just a minute with a fingernail brush. Then I would fill my washer about 1/4 of the way with straight hot water & add a 1/2 c. of automatic dishwasher soap to the tub--the cheaper the better because most cheaper brands have more phosphorous. I'd swish the water around, turn the temp. to warm, & put in my whites when the tub was about halfway full. Then I'd add about half the amount of detergent to the tub that I would normally use.

Control board malfunctioning.

You can try tripping the breaker a half dozen times or so, or else leave it unplugged/without power for a couple days. Once it is plugged back in you may have to leave it overnight and then try it, but that almost always revives it. I notice the problem when I don't use the washer/dryer once a week or don't push any buttons during that time to activate it in some way. Problem seems to occur more frequently in the winter when house is cooler.

1 1/2 PER LOAD

This is joyce
It is according to what cycle you have it set on and what kind of detergent you are using. if you use something other than HE detergent you may have a very long cycle, its trying to get all the suds out of your clothes, and yes the cycles do range that high.

Frigidaire front load washer FWT449GFS1 grinding sound

If the tub seal lets go water will weep into the tub bearing. This will rust the basket shaft and normally wreck the tub bearing. Once the bearings starts to get worn enough it usually gets very noisy. The tub bearing is pressed onto the outer back half of the tub shell assembly. Normally need to replace the inner basket/shaft assembly and the outer shell with the tub bearing.

One... use this option for...
Washing a single item of clothing, for example, one pair of jeans.
This option will reduce water consumption and washing time.
Note:You can reduce the amount of detergent you use with this wash.
Do not use the ‘One’ option with a full or a half load.
