What battery is used supermicro X5DP8-G2

The most common CMOS (BIOS backup) battery is a CR2032 3VDC battery. Since the X5DP8-G2 and the X5DPR-8G2+ share a manual, I suspect that the CMOS battery is the same for both boards. The picture in the manual for the X5DPR-8G2+ board shows a CR2032 clearly.

There is a link to the manual on the X5DP8-G2 product page: http://www.supermicro.com/products/motherboard/Xeon/E7501/X5DP8-G2.cfm . This link includes a SuperMicro terms of use. The current direct link to the manual is http://www.supermicro.com/manuals/motherboard/E7501/MNL-0684.pdf .

The usual way to confirm the battery type for this type CMOS battery on the motherboard is to remove the battery from the vertical slot. Read off the information on the battery and replace it with the correct battery. I usually have a number of these batteries available and don't have to go shopping. After replacing the battery, you will need to access the BIOS and update the time and date information for the system.

I hope this helps.

Date/time

There may be a bad connection in the CMOS battery housing. The battery should make an audible click when it's pressed into the CMOS housing on the motherboard. First, I would make sure that the motherboard BIOS has the latest version R2.1c found here:

If you can't locate a bad CMOS terminal, you may need to RMA the motherboard. You can check the warranty status here:

I have a Supermicro P8SCT motherboard when I power it on I get no video

Hello here is the homepage:

http://www.supermicro.com/products/motherboard/p4/e7221/p8sct.cfm

When you have a blown cap, on the mainboard i suggest to change them all.

But the price for this, will exeed the price for a new and better mainboard.
A new mainboard cost about 100 dollars, and the cpu aswell.

I suggest you to buy a well known brand like asus or intel.

I`m using asus, and i newer have any problems with that.

Intel is a bit more expensive, than a amd based mainboard.

Good luck

X7DBI+ bios password

Hello here is the homepage:

http://www.supermicro.com/products/motherboard/xeon1333/5000P/X7DBE.cfm

Remove the cmos battery on the mainboard for like 15 min. and inset the battery again.

This will clear the bios and remove the password.

But you have to setup the bios clock, date, boot settings, when the pass is gone.

The cmos battery look like this:

Please take antistatic precautions when working on the maniboard.

Good luck

8 gig of ram installed but win 8 pro 64 bit only see 4 gig, Win 7 Home Ultimate 64 bit had same result

Hello the homepage is here:

http://www.supermicro.com/products/motherboard/PD/955/PDSG4.cfm

Check for one of the modules is in place in the ram socket
and blow it out for dust with compressed air.
One of the modules could also have a defect.

The mainboard supports:
Up to 8GB dual channel unbuffered
ECC/non-ECC DDR2 667/533/400 MHz

Try also to upgrade the mainboard drivers with this tool:

http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect?iid=dc_iduu

Good luck

Resolve Error Code: C7 on SuperMicro Server

First check the OS compatibility for you motherboard here:
http://www.supermicro.com/support/faqs/os.cfm

Then, if compatible, check the IDE/SATA setting. Change the hard drive controller settings from IDE to AHCI or vice versa to see if the OS kernel panics on boot. If that does not work, please reply with your OS version and motherboard model.
