Question about Miscellaneous

Our turn of the century ceiling fan which has a remote control. The fan works with adjustable speeds, but the light will not.

The light it self made a slight noise for a few days, then started turning off by it self. Now it will not come on at all. I replaced the bulbs and checked for loose wires.

Sorry to hear that... anonymous,

"turn of the century" Brand: Ceiling Fan w/Remote.

I checked around and your fan seems to be a newer
(inexpensive) model FIXYA has yet to categorize...

My first impression ...

>> Buy another & keep the old for parts

For more expensive units...
that justify the cost of parts, shipping & labor

If they don't have the parts...
they can CERATAINLY TELL you where to get them
(if they exist)

The remote controls the fan speed but wont dim or control the light. the unit wont work if the light switch is off so I cant use the fan at all unless the light is turned on

mcdevito75 here, Generally the Ceiling fan motor is hooked up by-passing the wall switch but still to the hot laed going to the wall switch whlie the lights are hooked up to the hot lead after the wall switch, So without the remote, Manually operate your fan and lights. First with the wall switch off the fan should work and the lights no work. Now turn the fan off with the pull chain on the fan shroud close to the ceiling. Now turn wall switch on and lights should work with wall switch and the fan should also work. if so, re-program the remote or change the batteries or even re--place the remote.

Hello Brother,
Hang your ceiling fan on the Quick Connect fan bracket and wire the ceiling fan according to the manufacturer's instructions. The three wires coming from your ceiling should match the three wires coming from your ceiling fan: black (positive or hot), white (neutral or negative) and green (ground wire).

Use the high, medium and low keys on the remote to adjust the Hampton Bay fan speed, then use the light key to dim the light and the off key to turn off the fan.

For REMOTE CONTROL FANS you cannot use with any variable speed or slide wall switches. The remote control function must be used with on & off switch outlets only.
