SOURCE: Unable to get head of whipper snipper

After much mucking around I noticed a hole in the top shroud of the shaft. I placed a narrow screw driver through the hole until it made contact with the rotating part of the head and pushed until the head would not turn. I thern applied pressure clockwise until the head became loose. I did the reverse to tighten. The head of the unit will rotate anti clockwise to tighten as the shaft rotates clockwise during operation. I hope this explains the method.
Thank you any way for your interest.

SOURCE: my whipper snipper starts well but has no power to

Battery is NO GOOD.... need new ones, these quickly go bad, if not religiously charged and discharged. You must charge a long time when first get them, and then as soon as flat must go back on charger, for at least 4hours... regardless what is said. If ever removed before properly charged, then it will "remain" at that level, next charge and so on... All batteries MUST be flat before recharge, and full before used again, no exceptions.

SOURCE: sthil whipper snipper fs38 won't engage the starting pull mechanism, it turns but won't grab drive coupling

Also check to make sure the dogs are engaging when the cord is pulled. If not manually move the dogs in and out they might be stuck.
If not look at the pulley surface to see if the teeth are still pronounced
and able to engage if they are rounded off you will need to replace
the gear.

When I had this problem I replaced that ratchet toggle part that the string drum sits over. Do you use replacement refills or do you refill them yourself. If you wind the string in the wrong direction it all affect the auto feed.
