Check to see if your thermistor is bad by measure the resistance. It should be 10K Ohms at room temperature.
If it's bad, replace it BUT you have to CLEAR to error code.
1. Enter to Service Mode by press CHIME and TEMPERATURE keys for 3 seconds or until 3 beeps are heard.
2. Access Diagnostic Codes by pressing WRINKLE PREVENT. A d will be displayed. Rotate the CYCLE SELECTOR KNOB in either direction to read it.
3. Press SENSOR DRY and TIME keys for 3 seconds to clear it.
4. Power OFF to exit Service Mode
5. Power ON
Hope this helps

I had the exact same scenaio as posted by javierx541. I wish I had found this before I paid the repair guy a service fee for coming out. Since it is Saturday, I googled my model # and service manuals and found this and the service guy and I fixed it. Very helpful!!

This solved my problem on a Maytag Neptune MDE9700AZW (electric heat version)
To clarify one point: After entering the Diagnostic Codes mode, you do not need to turn the Cycle Selector Nob to any particular position. Simply leave it with "d" on the display, and the press Sensor Dry and Time keys for 3 seconds (it will chime at three seconds) to clear all error codes.

Maytag neptune error message e5

This normally indicates that the thermistor is bad. Try measuring it to prove it is OK. It should be 10K Ohms at room temperature (20C / 68F).
If necessary, replace it then clear the error code.

Code 5

Hi

The error is describing a tS code. It is an indication that the thermistor is shorted. The thermistor is the temperature sensing device used on this dryer. Before replacing the thermistor check for a clogged lint screen or dirty vent pipe.If these are clear and you are still getting the code the thermistor would need replaced, the resistance of the thermistor should be about 10K ohms at room temperature.

The thermistor is located on the blower housing in front of the motor.

Upside down letter F and #5

does it look like this? t5 or ts could be a thermistor code.if you changed out the thermistor you most likely have a bad computer board.there should be a tech sheet in the machine usually in the top console. here's something that might help http://mikemerrittmotors.yuku.com/topic/2255 the machine doesn't run is that correct?i would check the obvious things, open the door and push in on the door switch and make sure that's working correctly,it should click when you push it in,there's a switch on the belt pulley,if the belt broke the dryer won't start, then check the thermal fuse, the thermistor and if they all check good then you have a bad computer board.just have to get in there with a meter and start reading out parts, also make sure you have 240 volts coming to the dryer, you can check it at the block where the cord connects to the dryer, after that unplug it and check all the other parts for continuity and you have to remove at least one wire off of the part you're checking.also here's the sears site so you can look up your parts if you don't have this site already. http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Maytag-Parts/Dryer-Parts/Model-MDE9700AYW/3048/0151200?pathTaken=&prst=0&shdMod=MDE9700AYW good luck and wish i could help you out more

E5 code no top on the E

The code is T5 and that is the thermistor
Check for:
- Clogged lint screen.
- Restricted vent system.
- Check Thermistor resistance. Thermistor resistance 10K ohms at 25 C 77 F (2P-Blue & Red wire)
- Check for diagnostic code 1
Use tech sheet in machine to enter diagnostics mode

I have a code poping up when i start the drying cyle the code is E5 but when it showes the code yhe top bar of the E dose not show so im guessing its an E

I believe you are describing a tS code.

If it is tS showing it is an indication that the termistor is shorted. The thermistor is the temperature sensing device used on this dryer.

Before replacing the themistor check for a clogged lint screen or dirty vent pipe.

If these are clear and you are still getting the code the thermistor would need replaced, the resistance of the thermistor should be about 10K ohms at room temperature.

The part number for the thermistor is 35001191 and is located on the blower housing in front of the motor.

Hello i got a maytag dryer model #mde6700ayw wont run and give me a code t5 what can ii do to fix that problem

I believe that your code is actually "tS" vs t5. TS is a shorted thermistor

From the repair manual.

tS = Dryer Thermistor Short Sensed

{The Thermistor resistance is very low}.

Check for:

- Clogged lint screen.

- Restricted vent system.

- Check Thermistor resistance.

- Check for diagnostic code 1

The thermistor is item 50 this link: PN 35001191
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=5174648&diagram_id=28603393#d28603393

The thermistor has to be shorted to the chassis to get this code.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
