SOURCE: I have a Cub Cadet 1250. The PTO suddenly stopped

Look at www.cubcadet.com. There under parts you should find an IPL for your mower. You will need the model and serial number from under the seat to get the information. Look under the electrical for PTO.

SOURCE: I have a John Deere 102 riding mower with a manual

Check the belt its not tight, its loose or not fitted right.------ May be you put the belt loose or not properly.------ I agree belt is new, the belt is not the problem but its placement is problem.its coming out of its pulleys.Recheck that belt is intact and in-place and not getting loose.-------- Also recheck the connection of pto switch and seat switch.Remove the switch one by one and by pass it with a jumper wire and see if the blades getting engaged.------- ----------
Also check the bolt that holds the idler arm to the deck ,that bolt gets worn out causing the the arm to move up and down. ---------- This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Did you put all the belt keepers back on? I find a lot of DIYers usually leave one off thinking it is not important.

Was mowing-blades just quit turning-pto will not engage

Belt has broken, or jumped off the pulley, or jumped off the belt tensioner. Look at your deck and go from there. You may have to remove your deck to get to the belts under there cvers but you will see your problem.

You can check the clutch by taking a wire from the ground and a wire from the positive side of the battery and energizing the clutch directly with the belt off to see if thats it. It could simply be a wire loose in the connection on the clutch....their soldered on.

Cub Cadet LT1042 PTO won't disengage

If its an electric PTO then the switch on the dash is bad, Its a lever type ungagement then the little break shoes that rub on the blade spindles are either worn out or mis adjusted. If it started when you changed the blade drive belt its possibly the wrong belt??
