Hi driving my Citroen xsara Picasso '03 and all electrics died, no dash, hazards, lights, indicators nothing. The engine then cut out and restarted, to my absolute horror the accelerator pedal sank to the floor which had the engine revving like crazy. I managed to lift the pedal up which stopped the manic revving. Managed to get home with no lights, indicators, etc. All electrics have died and now the car will turn over but won't start. The only thing that works are the windscreen wipers but that's only when I try to start it. Other than the breakers yard any suggestions?
If the vehicle has tilt steering, it could be a pinched harness at the pivot point in the column. Otherwise check for big fuses located in plastic box close to battery( inner fender well. Should be a 60 amp or 40 amp. Check every fuse in the box while your there.
Thank you. Checked all fuses inner fender and under bonnet all ok, although just before electrics died it sounded like electrical sparks from right side of steering column. Tried a BSI reset but no luck.
you have no choice but to look In the steering column
open circuits will not blow fuses.
Thanks I'll check it out ????
