Question about Washing Machines

Open Question

After replacing the actuator, the machine goes through a complete wash and spin cycle. Then it goes back to sensing and wants to start over again.

We did order a door lock switch which has not been opened or returned. Is this a possibility?

We experienced the same thing. I was able to restart and locate the noise to the water pump. After disassembling the water pump found the impeller shaft sliding out. For some reason this shaft will not stay in place. Had to order a complete pump assembly as the electric motor is not available.

It appears your timer/main controller/CCU has failed in this instance.

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question!!!!

Washer completes cycle 100% but then it restarts and starts filling all over again/ rewashes in essence

Dear William, I guess first you have to check if the start switch is shorted. When you turn on the machine, does it automatically go into cycle? If yes, then your start switch is faulty. Otherwise, you may have to replace your timer/sequencer.

Machine does not complete washing cycles.

the lid switch must be working properly for it to spin.this is the area on most top loaders where theres a small hole and the actuator on the lid goes thru it and activates the lid switch .inspect this area for wear or damage
