My husband in stalled in shower vavle body. When bathtub is filling, water comes out shower head any ideas.

It's possible you installed the valve upside down, all values should be labeled in some way marking either hot and cold or it will say the word up where the riser tube port for the shower head is. If that's not the case remove the tub spout and check for any obstruction sometimes during tile or constructing debris can get into the pipe for your tub spout. Lastly the diverter on the tub spout could be bad. Try a new tub spout

It sounds like the diverter is not fully opening to allow the water to run to the spout. If the diverter is in the wall, perhaps there is a seal in there that needs replacing. If it is in the spout, just replace the spout,

Tub spouts are pretty much interchangeable although you may find the replacement spout cannot be installed easily because the threaded copper stub does not extend far enough to engage the threads inside the spout.

If you pull the silver knob on the tub spout up, the diverter located located inside will redirect water up to the shower head and when lowered it will return the water to the tub spout. It sounds as thought the diverter is not working properly. Hope this helps..

We have Delta brand tub/shower fixtures, the one handle kind. The problem is that water comes out of both the tub faucet and the shower head, even though the shower is not turned on. This happens every...

You need to replace the tub diverter/spout. There are two kinds, I hope you have the kind with
an allen head set screw on the bottom side of the spout near the shower wall. These are super
easy to replace ! Loosen the set screw, twist the spout a little and it should slide off. When installing
the new spout, smear some vaseline on the copper pipe sticking out, this will help seal the new O rings in the spout.

The other kind of spout has pipe threads in it. They can be a little more tricky. I got called to a
house one time. The plastic female threads on the spout cracked when the plumber installed it.
The water ran down the inside of the wall and did damage down stairs. The leak could not be seen
until the sheet rock down stairs fell down from being soaked. You need to put some pipe dope on the threads, then tighten the spout on by hand, so as not to scratch it with a pump pliers.

I hope this helps !

I just installed a series 13/14 single valve tub/shower faucet. When I try to turn on just the tub spout, the shower comes on as well. What could be causing this?

most likely problem is to much pressure in water lines if u have shut off valves on to feed lines turn them down a little will decrease pressure to the valve other problem the spout {tub} diverted is partially engaged, loose, debris or defective if u can reremove the spout and observe the valve for proper function

When the shower valve is engaged I still get water out of the tub spout and limited water out of the shower head. I just replaced the cartridge thinking that might be the problem but no luck

it sound's like you need to replace the tub spout.there should be a set screw on the bottom of spout loosen and twist off. replace with moen spout for ease of re-install.it's a real pain in the *** to try and replace -o- ring spout.

If this spout is less than one year old, I would contact my general contractor to get his plumber over to look at it. Most GC's (general contractors) will warrant their work for one year. If it is not under warranty, you should be able to fix this problem. Spouts do not typically blow off like that, so I am wondering if there is not an underlying circumstance. At any rate, I will assume the best and tell you how to reinstall the spout. There are several variations on spouts, but the one that is most common is a slip connection. Meaning that the spout will slide over a 1/2" copper water line protruding about 3" from the tub. After sliding the spout on, there is an allen screw on the bottom of the spout that snugs up against the copper pipe (again this is the most common type of install). If yours is different, let me know, and I will walk you through other processes. Before sliding the spout back on the copper, use plumber's putty around the opening that the copper is sticking out of. This will help to prevent water from getting behind the tub. Also, after the install; check the spout to make sure there are not any leaks. If no leaks are detected, use a clear silicone tub/shower caulk and go around the faucet. The caulk does not have to be a 1/4" bead to be effective. Run it around the spout, and using a moist towel, go back over the caulk to remove the excess. If you have done it right, you will not even notice the caulk, except for the gaps. Hope this is helpful.
