Anything with an "itis" at the end is an inflammation. In this case it is the bursa sacs. U need a **** to attack the inflammation, attack the cause of your issue, and pain ki**er to reduce the pain associated with the condition.

Tennis elbow

Epitrochlear bursitis; Lateral epicondylitis; Epicondylitis - lateral

Last reviewed: August 11, 2012.

Tennis elbow is soreness or pain on the outside (lateral) side of the upper arm near the elbow.

1689.jpg

Causes, incidence, and risk factors

The part of the muscle that attaches to a bone is called a tendon. Some of the muscles in your forearm attach to the bone on the outside of your elbow.

When you use these muscles over and over again, small tears develop in the tendon. Over time, this leads to irritation and pain where the tendon is attached to the bone.

This injury is common in people who play a lot of tennis or other racquet sports, hence the name "tennis elbow." Backhand is the most common stroke to cause symptoms.

However, any activity that involves repetitive twisting of the wrist (like using a screwdriver) can lead to this condition. Therefore, painters, plumbers, construction workers, cooks, and butchers are all more likely to develop tennis elbow.

This condition may also be due to constant computer keyboard and mouse use.

Symptoms

  • Elbow pain that gradually worsens

  • Pain radiating from the outside of the elbow to the forearm and back of the hand when grasping or twisting

  • Weak grasp

Signs and tests

Your doctor or nurse will examine you. The exam may show:

  • Pain or tenderness when the tendon is gently pressed near where it attaches to the upper arm bone, over the outside of the elbow.

  • Pain near the elbow when the wrist is bent backwards.

X-rays may be done.

Treatment

The first step is to rest your arm and avoid the activity that causes your symptoms for at least 2 - 3 weeks. You may also want to:

  • Put ice on the outside of your elbow 2 - 3 times a day.

  • Take nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications (such as ibuprofen, naproxen, or aspirin).

If your tennis elbow is due to sports activity, you may want to:

  • Ask about any changes you can make in your technique.

  • Check any sports equipment you are using to see if any changes may help. If you play tennis, changing your grip size of the racket may help.

  • Think about how often you have been playing and whether you should cut back.

If your symptoms are related to working on a computer, ask your manager about making changes to your work station or have someone look at how you chair, desk, and computer are set up.

An occupational therapist can show you exercises to stretch and strengthen the muscles of your forearm.

You can buy a special brace for tennis elbow at most drug stores. It wraps around the upper part of your forearm and takes some of the pressure off the muscles.

Your doctor may also inject cortisone and a numbing medicine around the area where the tendon attaches to the bone. This may help decrease the swelling and pain.

If the pain continues after 6 - 12 months of rest and treatment, surgery may be recommended. Talk with your orthopedic surgeon about the risks, and whether surgery might help.

Expectations (prognosis)

Elbow pain may get better without surgery. However, most people who have surgery have full use of their elbow forearm afterwards.

Can long term back pain cause depression? My husband has suffered from chronic back problems for years and I think it may be affecting his state of mind

Yes - I think there is actually quite a strong link between chronic pain and depression which makes sense. If you are in pain for ages and nothing really helps it can really bring you down and affect your quality of life.

You should encourage your husband to speak to his doctor as sometimes anti depressants can help both with pain relief and state of mind.

Hello, I just bought it. I am NOT sure where exactly on my arm should I place the knobbed viscoelastic insert. There are three opint of compression on the insert. If I put it on my right hand, the two...

The elbow strap should be about an inch to two inches away from your elbow. Essentially it's supposed to restrict blood flow moderately in order to relieve pain, so thinking logically I'd assume to put it over the place on your arm that has the most blood flow, your fore arm over your forceps. This wasn't meant for your hand, but your elbow.

2002 Saturn Vue Ignition Cylinder lock problem

The keys on this vehicle have a problem with wearing down to the point where it's a pain to get them to work in the ignition cylinder. Examine your keys for wear and that may have been your problem since day one.
I have a 2004 Vue and I have the only key I got with it (used car) worn down to the point where it will no longer work in the back door and is a pain to use in the ignition cylinder. It also falls right out of the ignition cylinder when the car is running. I have a copy of the key that was made when I got the car which works just fine and doesn't fall out, and looking at the two side by side, you can see that Saturn's key has worn down substantially since I got it two years ago.

How do I clean the inside of the door window of my self-cleaning oven?

umm. there will always be some assemblence of grease on the door glass, if its on the inner most panel and you can scrub it off, then i would reccomned using a razor blade lying flat to scrape it off, however if it has developed within the panel(s) of glass then the only remedy is to dissassmeble the door and glean them that way.. there was some conflict as to the age of your machine in your description, you say "3-hour cycle for the first use late last spring, if I remember correctly--whatever the directions said to do for the first time, a 4-hour cycle after Thanksgiving last fall and a 3-hour cycle for the second cleaning a couple of days ago since it wasn't very dirty"" so i cant be a mont old??? reason i say is that is the unit you purchased probably come with a pretty kickin warr and the manufacture will want ot make good on your issue if you cant resolve it, betterchance though if only 1 month not 11
