Change Vista to XP

I want my old AOL screen back without going thru Internet Explorer?

No I can get to AOL Home page using Enternet Explorr but it is different from XP Home page. Primarly I am disgusted with how Vist handles forwarding of E-mail. It was so easy with XP but in Vista you put the text in an E-mail you want to forward and then you go to contacts to put them in. When you go back to send it the text is missing. It goes to a draft and then you have to start all over. The only way I can figure to send a foward E-mail is to cut & paste the text in but you must wait to put in addreses before pasting or you will lose the text again. I don't understand why Vista is making a simple thing so complicated. I hope this explains the reson I would like to go back to XP. From what I have read you can only go back to XP if you have Vista Pro & I have Vista Home Premium.

Cant download ares or limewire

Update windows explorer on windows vista.
Here is the reason why it closes down your AOL when your going to download from ARES or LIMEWIRE because from Internet Explorer (Internet Options) automatically change the network setting, supposed to be Automatic Setting to connect on the internet but it change into Bypass or Proxy Server "check it there". We encounter this before but I do is to update the Internet explorer from 7.0 version up to the latest version of IE.
Hope were the same problem and help you guide about this. Good luck!

Then you will get a Small popup Window of System information check for Utilities Option in it and Click on it. Then you will get One Click Fixes. Click on Open. Then look for Quick Restore and click on Fix it for me. Thats it. Once it will me completed Restart your PC. Then Try login to AOL it will give you an option Existing member select it and click on Signin it will ask you for your Screen name type in that and you will be login to AOL. :)
If Windows Vista then :
Uninstall your AOL and after that restart your Computer. then go to internet explorer and type in as www.aol.co.uk/downloads and press Enter. You will get an option to download AOL 9.0 VR latest AOL software. It will give you 2 options Run or Save click on Run. Sounds like a registry problem. Are you running XP or Vista? When you go to task manager, click on File /Run. Type the word "explorer" without the quotes...Does the start bar come up?

Sometimes other programs, such as Firefox and AOL, can accidentally be set to your default internet browser. This is how to change it back to Internet Explorer on Windows XP.
[edit] Steps
  1. Open Internet Explorer
  2. Go to Tools > Internet Options
  3. Click to the Programs tab
  4. Click Reset Web Settings
  5. When the pop-up menu comes up, select Yes.
  6. Another method that does reset all your other options:
  7. Open Control Panel and double-click Internet Options.
  8. Click the Programs tab.
  9. Click to select the Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser check box.
  10. Click OK.
  11. Start Internet Explorer and when you are prompted to make it the default browser, click Yes.

After aol main computer went down they told me to reoncifugre the router i dont know how to do this and as i dont have a home fone line i cnt ring them any help please?

First thing to do is try to connect to the Internet without AOL then sign on to AOL using the broadband connection. When Internet Explorer is open, even without a connection, go to Tools>Internet Options>Connections and check the 'Never Dial a Connection', Click on Advanced and check the 'Automatically Detect Settings' check box. If you are not connecting to the Internet then turn off or unplug the power to the modem, turn it back on and wait 2 minutes. If you don't connect then do the same with the router power. If you still haven't connected using just Internet Explorer, NOT AOL, then talk to your router directly:) Do this by Start>Run>type http://192.168.1.1 (Linksys) or http://192.168.10.1 (Motorola). A logon screen appears. User Name is the manufacturer's name and 'admin' is the password. A web page or dashboard will appear. For a cable modem select DHCP. For DSL select PPPoE. Static addresses can also be entered if you know what they are but probably not. When you see ip addresses listed open Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, Chrome or whatever browser flavor you like EXCEPT AOL. Once connected to the Internet then go to AOL. More specifics on your broadband service and hardware makes will get you more specific help if you need. Happy surfing!
