Question about Brother Office Equipment & Supplies
I've changed the toner/drum unit (as one) multiple times and never had a problem. This time I bought it online but it turned out to be only the toner; I then bought the drum unit, inserted them together and into the printer, and now, no matter what I do (reset the printer, reset the page settings as per Brother's support page, a variety of button pushing exercises as per youtube print "experts", turning the printer off for 20min etc), it still prints skewed. I've checked the paper aligning slides and they're straight. I'm at my wit's end; please help!

I think the previous post applies to resetting the drum light after replacing the drum.
You need to reset the toner end-of-life condition.

Just got the following solution that worked for me:
1. Power Unit off
2. Open front cover
3. Press and hold GO and turn power on
4. When all 3 lights lit release and press GO twice
5. All lights turn solid
6. With all solid, press GO 5 times
7. Ready light GOes red
8. Close door and you're all set
Got it from here: http://www.fixya.com/support/t612015-print

This problem is a common issue and easily fixed.
When putting in a new toner cartridge, the printer usually automatically resets the toner count.
In a situation like this, the printer did not automatically do the reset and so we must manually reset the printer.
To manually reset the printer, first, remove the toner from the printer and separate it from the drum unit.
With the toner cartridge in hand and the brother writing facing you, look to the left side of the cartridge. You should see an arc shaped opening with a white tab in it.
The tab is set at the right position and must be pushed back to the left side of the opening.
To push the tab back, you must turn the grey gear attached to the front roller upwards as you push the tab.
Once the tab has been placed to the left position, the printer will accept it as a new toner cartridge.
