Yes it needs a new battery. You can do this yourself, You can buy the battery pack on eBay and look up the installation instructions doing a Google search.

Reset my kindle,

Dead battery. If you haven't charged it for several years it dies.
Unreparable although if you call kindle customer support they may give you a discounted price on a new or refurbished current model Kindle. They'll want your old one for parts.

My kindle will not charge?

The Kindle Fire HD, if completely discharged, may take several hours to begin to accept a charge again. Simply leave it plugged in long enough and the on-board system will sort it out.

My Kindle battery will not take a charge?

You need to turn the unit on to see the model or serial number, we would try another charger letting it charge for a hour to see if it would accept a charge or turn on.

The Kindle touch and the Kindle FIre are great devices for you reading needs. However, there are time when it becomes unresponsive and freeze on you. My kindle wi-fi is not working. I went to turn it on and the light came on but stayed at the screen saver screen.

Make sure that the kindle is fully charged. Plug your kindle into the wall charger, a yellow light will light up. When the yellow light turns green, your kindle is fully charged. Then try turning on your device. If the device still does not turn on, hold the power switch for 15 seconds, this will reboot the device.
