Question about Televison & Video
If you will type " Yukon" or "Chevrolet" or "GMC" dvd player into your search engine of your computer, there are internet services that offer to repair your DVD player for a reasonable fee.
You would have to take it out, mail it to them, and install it when you receive it, they will fix it when they receive it from you.
I tried one, it worked for me.
Another would be to try to buy a head off of E-bay or maybe Amazon.
God bless your efforts.

There might be damage that was done when the pliers were used or the force of putting 2 DVDs could have caused damage.

SOURCE: new dvd movie will not play
When I rented DVD's from Blockbuster to play on my DVC850C this week they did not play. I put them on my computer and both DVD's played; however, they had a page pop up on the computer that said:
This DVD is enhanced with interactive features designed exclusively for use on a computer.
PLAY DVD with enhanced feathers (This creates download)
PLAY DVD without enhanced feathers (Just watch move on PC)
I notified Blockbuster who said they had never heard of anyones DVD player not working with their movies or only working on the PC and not the Sylvania DVD player.
Maybe the DVD manufacturers are trying to enhance profits and by adding the enhanced features for the computer it causes the Sylvania DVC840C not to accept the DVD. The old DVD's without the enhanced features work fine on my DVC850C.

You have to finalize the disc. if the disc goes to the end it will finalize the disc automatically. If there is some part of the disc not used you have to do it yourself. IN DVD MODE PRESS SETUP, THEN DISC EDIT, THEN FINALIZE. FINALLY PRESS YES. That should do it.

Had the same problem but was able to fix it by simply doing the following:
"this is closed captions turned on your TV. get your original TV remote and look for a button that says "Captions" or "CC", and keep pressing it until the TV says "Off". if it doen't have one of those buttons, you will need to get into the menu of the TV and turn off closed captions there. It is probably set on "Text1 or Text 2" right now, and it needs to be set on "Off"

Check the model specifications for your device. Some players will only accept DVD-R and not DVD+R or not DVD+RW discs. I know it all seems the same, and it's very frustrating, but many companies restrict the type of discs they will allow. My player does +R but not -R. It should still be able to read DVD discs that you made yourself, but they will be of a different type.

Testimonial: "Thank you, that might be the answer."
maybe the spindle motor is defective so it cannot read the disc. just bring that your dvd to sony service center to fix your dvd.
